Program Description

Electrical Power Engineering encompasses the study of sustainable systems for electricity generation and the transmission of electrical energy, as well as the interactions between power grids, electricity generation, and electricity consumption.

 

Job Responsibilities

As an Assistant Professor, you will conduct research in a subfield of electrical power engineering (to be determined by you in consultation with the department chair), contribute to undergraduate and graduate-level education in electrical power engineering and related fields, supervise doctoral students, and initiate and carry out externally funded research projects in electrical power engineering

As an Assistant Professor, you will strengthen the group, broaden its research activities, and teach students. Possible research areas include:

  • Protection relays and protection coordination
  • Grounding and stray currents
  • Industrial power systems, including rail power supply

Qualifications

To be eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor, the applicant must

  • have earned a Ph.D. or hold a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Ph.D.

Preference will be given to candidates who have earned a doctoral degree no more than five years prior to the application deadline. However, candidates who earned a doctoral degree or attained equivalent qualifications earlier may also be considered if there are special circumstances. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances.

 

Evaluation Criteria

The following evaluation criteria apply to this position:

* Scientific proficiency

* Other evaluation criteria, weighted equally

  • experience in planning and performing electrical power engineering measurements in both laboratory and field settings
  • ability to collaborate with the surrounding community, particularly companies and organizations in the field of electrical power engineering
  • ability to inform other researchers and the surrounding community about research and development work
  • teaching qualifications in the form of completed teacher training and teaching experience, as well as the ability to teach in Swedish
  • proficiency in English and Swedish
  • low-voltage authorization, AL
  • administrative skills relevant to the subject matter and the duties included in the position

Term of Employment

This position is for a term of four years.

 

Tenure-Track Position as University Lecturer

The purpose of the appointment is to provide the faculty member with the opportunity to develop independence as a researcher and to establish a track record in both research and teaching in order to meet the eligibility requirements for a position as a university lecturer.

An assistant university lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to university lecturer and granted a permanent position if he or she is qualified for a position as a lecturer, and is deemed suitable for such a position following an evaluation based on the assessment criteria specified below.

For the evaluation, the assistant lecturer must have completed higher education pedagogy training equivalent to 7.5 credits or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.

During the period of employment, the assistant associate professor must also have contributed independently, to a significant extent, and with high quality to the university’s research, as well as demonstrated good teaching skills.
