The Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources (SBN) conducts research and education in the field of mining, construction and the environment. Our research and education has a strong experimental and applied profile with several large and well-equipped laboratories. The operations are quality assured by our dedicated professors and lecturers in an exclusive and successful collaboration with business and the public sector. 70% of our research is externally funded and we have a well-developed international collaboration with universities in all parts of the world. SBN has around 400 people with around 50 nationalities, of which 180 are PhD students and around 50 are professors. Architecture is one of our 19 research subjects. The research group consists of about 20 people with different skills in urban and traffic planning, architecture and urban design, cultural preservation and landscape architecture. Our research and education make a decisive contribution to shaping future policy and planning of future cities. More information about our business; https://www.ltu.se/research/subjects/Architecture Job duties The availability of large amounts of data requires new knowledge and skills for planners, decision makers and community organizations. This transformation affects the planning and architecture disciplines that integrate form-based methods with evidence-based science. In this position, you will focus on research and teaching related to "urban analytics" connecting sustainable urban, transport and architecture areas to other relevant areas such as data science, smart city development and intelligent transport systems. Duties consist of teaching C#, Python, Database technology for spatial analyses. You will also have the opportunity to develop in the role of thesis supervisor, create and develop research applications for external funding and develop industry collaborations with national and international partners. Furthermore, you are expected to participate in the group's joint development of the educational and research area, as well as collaborate with research groups within the university as well as with other institutions of higher learning and other external parties, both nationally and internationally. Eligible to be employed as an assistant university lecturer is someone who Graduated with a doctorate or have equivalent scientific competence. Demonstrated pedagogical skill. Completion of higher education education corresponding to 7.5 ECTS credits or alternatively acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. In the first instance, it should be considered for employment who have completed their doctorate no more than five years before the end of the application period. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been completed earlier. By special reasons is meant leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical duties, duties of trust, or similar circumstances. Basis of assessment (fold equally) The following assessment criteria are applied for the position: - Scientific prowess (publications in good international journals, etc.) - Pedagogical skill Other assessment grounds (weighted equally) - Completed urban planning or similar subjects degree (e.g. M.Sc. and PhD degree) - Documented experience of working in externally funded research projects and collaborating with the surrounding society and industry (nationally, within the EU or similar) - experience in teaching and supervising in urban analytics (C#, Python, Database technology, etc.) and planning - Good knowledge in English - Ability to teach in Swedish or is willing to teach in Swedish within four years Period of employment For this employment, a term of employment of four years applies. Exam for university lecturer An assistant university lecturer must, upon application, be promoted to university lecturer and an employment until further notice, if he/she has the authority for employment as a lecturer and in an examination is deemed suitable for such employment according to the assessment criteria stated below. Upon examination, it is required that the assistant lecturer has undergone higher education education corresponding to 7.5 ECTS or alternatively acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. During the period of employment, the assistant lecturer must also contribute independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality to the university's research and demonstrate good teaching skills. Other assessment grounds (weighted equally): Documented experience of granted research funding; • Documented experience of cooperation with national and international industry; • Documented teaching experience and student evaluations; • Ability to teach in Swedish.
