The department of health, learning and technology, HLT, is an academic meeting place where scientific perspectives on knowledge about learning and health are brought together. We intend to strengthen subject competence in the area of ​​English with a didactic orientation and are now looking for an assistant university lecturer with competence in research areas related to language didactics. Subject description English with a didactic orientation has its center of gravity in the study of the subject of English and its didactic theory and practice. The didactic research includes cultural, literary and linguistic perspectives on learning as well as perspectives based on power relations such as gender, ethnicity and class. Issues related to language teaching and learning are studied, as well as language use in the broadest sense and the cultural and social functions of language and literature. Job duties The position mainly includes teaching and research in the research area of ​​English with a didactic orientation. The position also involves supervision of independent work and examinations of business-based training in teaching programs. The position also includes developing subject didactic research of relevance for teacher education in English. The employment also includes course development, administration and participation in the department's and faculty's work. In the role of assistant university lecturer, you will mainly work with teaching in the teacher training programs and then mainly in the subject of English. The duties also include 30% research over two years. You will have an important role in our development and quality work and bring experience to the relevant business areas. It is expected that you will be involved in research environments, in research projects and it is of great importance that you feel comfortable in communicating research results via academic publications. Competence Eligible to be employed as an assistant lecturer is someone who has completed a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. In the first place, it should be considered for employment who have completed their doctorate no more than five years before the end of the application period. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been completed earlier. By special reasons is meant leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical duties, duties of trust, or similar circumstances. Basis of assessment The following assessment criteria are applied for the position: • Scientific skill • Other assessment grounds Regarding the assessment grounds, particular importance is given in order of priority: • Experience of research and teaching in the subject area (recently completed or ongoing research in the area of ​​English with a didactic orientation). • Experience of teaching at school in a relevant subject (preferably English) • Experience of practical research and development projects and collaboration with the surrounding community Other assessment grounds (weighted equally): • administrative skills that are important with regard to the content of the subject and the duties included in the employment • ability to obtain external research and development funds • ability to inform about research and development work • be able to teach in Swedish and/or English • teacher's license or teacher's degree in English We are looking for a candidate with teaching experience from the higher education sector, especially in the linguistic parts of the English subject. If you also have experience teaching English in both primary and subject teacher training, this will be seen as meritorious. We value practical research in English language didactics, especially if you have published your results in reputable scientific journals. If you have competence and experience in our top areas, word learning and writing development, this will also be seen as meritorious. It is also advantageous if you have experience in course and program development in the higher education sector, have a higher education education (7.5 credits) and documented pedagogical experience with a clear connection and relevance to teacher education in English. Likewise, it is advantageous if you have experience of supervising and examining students in business-based education and in degree work.
