The research subject of Engineering Materials consists of five senior researchers, two technicians, and nine doctoral students. Subject description Engineering Materials includes the field of material composition, structure, properties and production of materials – mainly metallic and ceramic – as well as application aspects. Duties The position is linked to the RECAT center at Luleå University of Technology. It focuses on the material design, processing, and manufacturing of advanced battery-active materials for sustainable energy storage. Working as a Associate Senior Lecturer involves defining your daily research, teaching, supervision, and administrative aligning with the long-term goals defined in the RECAT center and Engineering Materials, and how they will be carried out. Primary consideration should be given to someone who has been awarded a doctoral degree within five years of the application deadline for employment as an associate senior lecturer. However, someone who has been awarded a doctoral degree or achieved corresponding competence at an earlier date may also be considered if there are special grounds. Special grounds are sick leave, parental leave or other similar circumstances. Other assessment criteria in descending order of importance: • documented knowledge in the synthesis and processing of active battery materials • experience in advanced material characterization • the ability to collaborate with the wider community • the ability to communicate research and development work • very good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in English • the ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish is advantageous • the candidate demonstrated a strong publication record • experience in the design of battery materials, processing science, powder metallurgy, chemical and physical modification of powder surfaces, sintering technology, atomization, electron microscopy, and synthetic chemistry is advantageous. • postdoctoral experience in the relevant research area will be considered positively towards evaluation. Period of employment For this employment, an employment period of four years applies. Promotion to senior lecturer An assistant senior lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to senior lecturer and a position until further notice. If the applicant is qualified for a position as senior lecturer and in an examination is deemed suitable for such a position, is determined in accordance with the assessment criteria set out below: In the examination, it is required that the associate senior lecturer has completed higher education pedagogical education corresponding to 7.5 credits or has acquired corresponding knowledge in another way. During the employment period, the associate senior lecturer must also independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical skills.
