The Division of Materials Science at Luleå University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated researcher to conduct research in the synthesis and processing of battery materials within the subject of Materials Science and Engineering. The Division of Materials Science and Engineering conducts research programs in several broad areas, including metallic and ceramic materials (high temperature intermetals, aerospace materials, high strength steels, porous ceramic materials and energy recovery materials). The division is part of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics. Within the department there are several other research topics closely related to materials engineering, such as mechanics of materials and machine elements. At the undergraduate level, two MSc programs with an international profile are particularly important for the division: MSc International Materials Engineering (EEIGM). Within these programs, many students carry out project work and theses linked to our research. The research group in Materials Engineering consists of five senior researchers, two technicians and nine PhD students. Subject description Materials Engineering covers the composition, structure, properties and production of materials, mainly metallic and ceramic materials, and their application aspects. Duties and responsibilities The position is attached to the RECAT research center at Luleå University of Technology and focuses on materials design, processing and manufacturing of advanced battery active materials for sustainable energy storage. The research focuses on the development and optimization of synthesis routes, surface and interface modification, and understanding the relationship between structure and properties of active materials for current and next generation battery chemistries. As an Associate Senior Lecturer, you are expected to plan and carry out research, teaching, supervision and administrative tasks in line with the long-term goals of the RECAT center and the subject of Materials Engineering. You will act and develop as a project leader, in parallel with your own scientific merit. You will also be expected to participate in other projects and in teaching. For full advertisement, see ltu.se/ledigajobb Eligibility To meet the requirements for employment as an Associate Senior Lecturer, the applicant must - have a doctoral degree, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree Priority should be given to those who have completed a doctoral degree within five years of the application deadline. However, those who have completed a doctoral degree or have achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons are defined as leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances. Assessment criteria The following assessment criteria apply to this post: - scientific excellence - other assessment criteria. Other criteria in descending order of importance: - Proven knowledge in synthesis and processing of active battery materials - Experience in advanced materials characterization - Ability to interact with the surrounding community - Ability to communicate research and development work - Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English - Ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish is an advantage - Good knowledge and experience in relevant areas and a strong scientific publication record. - Experience in battery material design, process engineering, powder metallurgy, chemical and physical surface modification of powders, sintering technology, atomization, electron microscopy and synthesis chemistry is meritorious - Post-doctoral experience in a relevant research area is an advantage Duration of employment The duration of this position is four years. Examination for Senior Lecturer The purpose of the employment is to give the teacher the opportunity to develop his/her independence as a researcher and to gain merit both scientifically and pedagogically in order to meet the requirements for eligibility for employment as a senior lecturer. An Associate Senior Lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to Senior Lecturer and an appointment until further notice if he/she is qualified for an appointment as Senior Lecturer, and is assessed as suitable for such an appointment according to the assessment criteria stated below. During the assessment, the associate senior lecturer must have completed a course in higher education pedagogy equivalent to 7.5 credits or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way. During the period of employment, the associate senior lecturer must also have contributed independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, to the university's research and demonstrated good teaching skills.
