The university offers a unique opportunity to develop comprehensive research skills throughout the mining chain - from exploration, mining, processing and metal production, to post-mining recovery. We are now looking for a senior lecturer to strengthen our team in mining production.

Mining and Rock Engineering covers mining engineering, rock engineering and rock mechanics, including rock mass properties, tunneling engineering, design and dimensioning of mines and rock facilities, and planning and production processes linked to both mining and infrastructure development.

The Assistant Professor will conduct research, research supervision and be involved in teaching activities in relevant areas of the research subject. Particular emphasis is placed on applied research within our subject, so good relations with Swedish and international mining and mineral industries are important.

Associate Senior Lecturers are also expected to contribute to the development of the University, i.e. to contribute to obtaining external funding for the subject, to communicate research results via academic publications, and to participate in management and administrative tasks.

Eligible for employment as an Associate Senior Lecturer are those who:

• Have completed a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree

Primarily those who have completed a doctoral degree no more than five years before the application deadline should be considered for employment. However, those who have obtained a doctorate or equivalent qualifications earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons refer to leave of absence due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

Other evaluation criteria (in order of priority):

• Doctoral degree in rock engineering, mining or civil engineering with specialization in rock engineering or similar
• Experience in international research collaboration
• Ability to communicate research and development work
• Fluence in oral and written English
• Experience in data filtering with AI, ML, Digital twins as well as visualization and software development, Dynamic loading, economic parameters for loading optimization, experimental experience and synchronization of vibration data combined with multi-sensor information from drilling.

This position is for a period of four years. The place of employment is Luleå.

The purpose of the employment is to give the teacher the opportunity to develop their independence as a researcher and to merit themselves both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the requirements for eligibility for a position as a senior lecturer.

An associate senior lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to senior lecturer and an employment until further notice if he/she is qualified for an employment as a senior lecturer, and is deemed suitable for such an employment according to the assessment criteria stated below.

In the assessment, the associate senior lecturer is required to have completed a higher education pedagogical education equivalent to 7.5 credits or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. During the period of employment, the associate senior lecturer must also have contributed independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, to the university's research and demonstrated good teaching skills.
