The university conducts research in the entire mining chain - from exploration, mining, mineral engineering and metallurgy to the management of residual products and reclamation after the end of mining.
For further development at Luleå University of Technology, the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering (SBN) sees a need to increase the senior staff in the subject of ore geology with a special focus on critical raw materials and focus on the ore formation processes relevant to Sweden from regional to deposit scale.
We need to hire an Associate Senior Lecturer who can strengthen the existing group by bringing in new research projects, supervising undergraduate and graduate students, and developing our Sustainable Mineral Extraction and Geoscience Resources education programs. In addition to this, there is a particular interest for the subject to further strengthen its position in regional geology and metallogenesis, with particular emphasis on the role of hydrothermal fluids in ore-forming processes.
Duties and responsibilities
The holder of the position will mainly conduct research and education in ore geology and also supervise PhD students. Special emphasis is placed on applied research, which is why good contacts with the mining and mineral industry are important.
