The community building sector faces major challenges in the areas; energy & raw materials, environment, urbanization and work environment and safety. The Department of Community Development and Natural Resources (SBN) focuses on meeting some of these challenges through education, research and innovations to contribute to the development of a sustainable society. The research topic construction production and the department for industrial and sustainable construction includes development and industrialization of the construction and management process and is an important part of SBN. In the research topic building production and technology, a lot of research is ongoing in the field of sustainable development and management of buildings. The research is applied and is based on current industrial and societal challenges for companies and other organisations. There is now a need to strengthen our research environment as well as the teaching with a first research engineer with a focus on building knowledge in property management and installations which at the same time takes into account the unique requirements and processes of public authorities. https://www.ltu.se/forskning/forskningsamnen/byggproduktion-och-teknik Subject description Construction production and technology includes technical solutions, tools, methods and organization for planning, information management and control of a sustainable and integrated industrial construction process with associated business processes. Job duties The position as first research engineer means that you participate in both research and educational activities within the core areas of the research subject, such as sustainability, digitization, production and management. The focus of the research going forward will be on the existing building stock, where questions about energy efficiency, sustainable management and the building as a system will be important pieces of the puzzle. You will work within a team under construction that has its bearings in installations and its role in the building as a system. You are expected to conduct the research in collaboration with industry and academia in a way that creates good conditions for new research projects and an expanded collaboration network. In addition to working to develop relevant research areas, department assignments (internal assignments at Luleå University of Technology) will be an important part of the position. Qualifications For the first research engineer, a degree from a college/university in a subject relevant to the position is required. Since the position includes both educational activities and other departmental assignments, previous experience of similar tasks is meritorious. Furthermore, as the position involves collaboration between industry and academia, good language skills as well as social skills are valued.
