The Robotics and AI group at Luleå University of Technology is looking for a new senior research engineer with a focus on hardware development for autonomous robots. In addition, you will assist in hardware integration and testing within national and European Union research projects. Project description You will be part of a distinguished team and collaborate with a group of highly diverse people working in robotics and artificial intelligence. Job duties 1. Electrical engineering a. As an electrical engineer, you will design and build new electrical solutions, including electrical schematics, PCB design and hands-on work with electrical circuits. b. This position requires mechatronics/electrical/robotics skills. 2. Mechanical engineering a. As a mechanical engineer, you will design and build innovative hardware solutions, including 3D CAD design, 3D printing, and hands-on work with robot construction. b. This position requires skills in mechatronics/mechanical engineering/robotics. 3. Soft robotics a. As a soft robotics engineer, you will develop, design and build soft robotic structures, including work with pneumatic actuators and smart materials. b. This position requires skills in biomechanics/mechatronics/robotics. 4. Research engineers will also support the group in various other tasks, for example: a. Development and maintenance of laboratory. b. Maintenance and development of existing robot platforms. c. Support during laboratory and field experiments. Qualifications 1. Holder of a bachelor's or master's degree in mechatronics/mechanical engineering/electrical engineering/biomechanics/robotics or equivalent educational background in relevant subjects. 2. Knowledge and previous experience of engineering and robotics software, for example: a. 3D CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor). b. PCB EDA software (preferably Autodesk Eagle). c. CAD/CAM software. d. Simulation software (Gazebo, Unity, FEM/FEA). e. ROS (Robot Operating System). f. Arduino programming. 3. Practical experience in developing and building robot-like platforms, structures and devices. Additional qualifications (desirable) 1. B driving license (EU). 2. Drone pilot certificate (EU). 3. Basic low-level programming skills. Information The position is full-time for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Place of work Luleå. Access as early as possible or by agreement.
