We have a wide range of programs to match the skills that are in demand. We hope you will help us build the sustainable businesses and societies of the future. The EISLAB division at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering conducts research in the fields of cyber-physical systems, electronic systems and machine learning. EISLAB is involved in several large European projects for distributed systems engineering focusing on IoT, systems of systems (SoS) and cyber-physical systems (CPS). Current examples include Arrowhead fPVN (42 partners, from 11 countries in Europe) and AIMS5.0 (53 partners in Europe, major industries, SMEs, research organizations and universities). A key result is the Eclipse Arrowhead software framework for industrial automation which has wide support of European industry. Topic description Cyber-physical systems encompass integrated software, electronics hardware and application architecture in connected devices and distributed systems. The research aims to create secure, autonomous and evolvable solutions that interact with each other and their environment, from edge to cloud. Project description You will work with some of the following areas within CPS: -Sustainable industrial AI-driven cyber-physical systems (CPS) with respect to their ability to effectively fulfill their intended purpose throughout their lifetime, including the ability to adapt to changing environments and uncertain conditions. -Decision Support Systems (DSS) for industrial CPS applications based on Explainable AI (XAI), with the goal of enabling efficient and effective human-machine interaction. -Design of DSS for Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) in CPS and IoT networks, enabling efficient and effective use of ML/DL-based anomaly detection by humans, e.g. qualified cybersecurity personnel. The work will be conducted as parts of national or European projects with industrial partners. Outputs include academic papers and open source contributions, for example, for Eclipse Arrowhead. Duties and responsibilities The position typically involves working in collaboration with both academic and industrial partners in Europe. Cooperation with industry is therefore essential.
