The department EISLAB at the Department of Systems and Space Engineering conducts research in the subjects of cyber-physical systems, electronic systems and machine learning. EISLAB is involved in several large European distributed system engineering projects focusing on IoT, systems of systems (SoS) and cyber-physical systems (CPS). Current examples include Arrowhead fPVN (42 partners, from 11 countries in Europe) and AIMS5.0 (53 partners in Europe, major industries, SMEs, research organizations and universities). An important result is the Eclipse Arrowhead software framework for industrial automation, which is widely supported by European industry. Subject description Cyber-physical systems focus on integrated software and application architectures with implementations of highly distributed embedded systems that interact with each other and their environment to enable secure, goal-directed, autonomous and scalable solutions. Project description You will work with some of the following areas within CPS: -Digitalized negotiations and establishment of contracts for secure data sharing and interactions in federated and decentralized systems. -Smart contracts and data storage in decentralized systems, for example for value-creating services based on digital product passports (DPP). -Virtualization across the compute continuum for flexible, robust, secure, and adaptable distributed and service-oriented systems. -Security, delegation and access control in industrial IoT and CPS. -Scalable and secure digital twins at industrial edge to cloud. -Decentralized systems in general, including blockchain technologies and distributed hash tables (DHT). The work will be carried out as part of national or European projects with industrial partners. Results include academic articles and open source contributions, for example, for Eclipse Arrowhead. Job duties The position usually involves working in collaboration with both academia and industry partners in Europe. Collaboration with industry is therefore important. In this, you will work closely with other LTU researchers and take part in the supervision of doctoral students. The position mainly includes work in research projects. Teaching and pedagogical development work are also included. The holder of the service is expected to contribute in: -Research within funded projects in collaboration with other senior researchers at EISLAB as well as PhD students and civil engineering students. -Financing activities defined in collaboration with subject representatives and head of department. -Education at the university at engineering, construction and postgraduate levels, teaching and supervision. - Contribute to a healthy and forward-looking working climate in the department EISLAB, SRT and Luleå University of Technology. Qualifications In order to be an eligible applicant, you as an applicant must have a PhD or an equivalent foreign degree in cyber-physical systems, data-driven solutions, distributed data systems, computer science, digitization/automation systems or the like. In the first place, it should be taken into account that the doctoral degree has been completed no more than three years before the end of the application period. You must be proficient in computer science and have good programming skills, including software design, basic programming concepts, and programming experience. Previous experience working with microservice systems, applied machine learning (ML), IoT, CPS and/or SoS is advantageous but not required. Fluency in oral and written communication in English is a requirement. Experience of international research collaboration and teaching at university level in English is an advantage for the position.
