The department for energy science is looking for you who want to work as a postdoctoral fellow in the field of energy technology. Your research will be focused on ash transformation processes in the thermochemical conversion of biomass. Energy engineering is located in the department of energy science in the department of engineering science and mathematics, which is a subject-wise broad department with many successful research groups and recognized educational programs. In energy technology, we have a close collaboration with companies/industries in both research projects and student projects. The research is of high international class and we collaborate with researchers worldwide. In the field of thermochemical energy conversion, research is focused on the production of fuels, materials, electricity and heat through combustion, gasification and pyrolysis of fuels. Subject description Energy technology includes the development of technology and processes for a sustainable energy supply. The research is directed towards biofuel technology and energy-efficient use in industry and society. Project description In your research, together with colleagues from academia, institutes and industry (engineers, PhD students and senior researchers), you will develop new knowledge that describes critical ash transformation processes during combustion, gasification and pyrolysis of biofuels. You will largely participate in projects with a particular focus on ash-bed interactions in the thermal conversion of biomass in fluidized beds. There will also be participation in other projects dealing with ash transformation processes in the conversion of biomass. The work largely includes qualified characterization of solid ash fractions with a focus on XMT and SEM/EDS analysis. You will also participate in experimental pyrolysis, gasification and combustion trial campaigns with our project partners both inside and outside of Sweden.  Job duties The duties of a postdoctoral fellow are mainly research. Teaching and pedagogical development work can be included in the duties with a maximum of 20% of the working time. Qualifications In order to be eligible for employment, a doctorate or an equivalent foreign degree in Energy Technology or Chemical Technology with a focus on ash transformation processes in the thermochemical conversion of biomass is required. It is advantageous if your degree has been completed no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, it can come into question as having previously completed a doctoral degree, for example in the case of various types of statutory leave. Meritorious for this position are: -Documented qualified experience in both XMT and SEM/EDS characterization of solid ash fractions produced from pyrolysis, gasification and combustion of biomass. -Ability to work independently and take own initiative but also have good cooperation skills, as the project involves many people. - Good knowledge of English and easy to express yourself in both speech and writing. Information For this employment, a full-time employment period of two years applies, with the possibility of extension by a maximum of one additional year. Place of employment is Luleå.
