The research questions we work with are relevant to, and integrated into, the education we provide. Equally, the courses we offer influence the research we undertake. Doctoral education is provided in nursing and the doctoral projects are included in the three focus areas.
Project description
The research project "Specialist Psychiatric Nursing Teams (SPOT) - Good and close care at home?" is a three-year project funded by Forte, the Swedish governmental research funding agency. The project investigates the introduction of specialist psychiatric care teams (SPOT) in northern Sweden. SPOT is described as a step towards more person-centered and accessible psychiatric care in the home, but there is uncertainty about what this form of care means and how effective it is. The aim of this project is to analyze how SPOT works, what values and decisions underlie its implementation, and how it affects patients, health professionals, care consumption and costs.
The project consists of three sub-studies: [1] policy analysis, [2] study of experiences of patients, relatives and staff, and [3] quantitative evaluation of outcomes and cost-effectiveness. The approach and research team is multidisciplinary. The project will be supported by a reference group consisting of representatives of organizations and users. The project leader is Associate Professor Sebastian Gabrielsson.
