We hope you will help us build the sustainable companies and communities of the future.   Subject description Political science is the scientific study of politics and political systems and includes both empirical and theoretical studies. The research is focused on issues related to how natural resources, energy and environment-related conflicts and agreements are handled by individuals and interest groups as well as by political and administrative systems. Dominant research areas are public policy and administration, institutional analysis, comparative politics, public opinion studies and political theory.   Project description The unit for political science is part of the department of social science, which, in addition to political science, also includes the subjects of law, economics and history. Within the department, research focuses on various social science aspects of the environment and natural resources. Within the department, both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects are conducted where researchers from political science work together with, for example, researchers in economics and law. Research collaboration also takes place regularly with academic disciplines from the Faculty of Technology and Natural Sciences. The political science subject at Luleå University of Technology is in an expansive phase and therefore needs to recruit a postdoctoral fellow to work in a research project dealing with opportunities for increased collaboration within wild boar management. The proposed project takes its starting point from the need for increased cooperation in Swedish wild boar management, in accordance with the goals of the national management plan, and examines obstacles and opportunities for increased cooperation, through surveys, network analysis and interviews. The research is financed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.   Job duties As a postdoctoral fellow, you will participate in the above research project. You will be involved in the project's planning and implementation together with other members of the project group and collaboration partners. The work in the project comprises 80 percent of your position and 20 percent institutional service in the form of teaching at basic and advanced level in political science or other tasks.  You are also expected to participate in the collegial work in the subject and department as well as participate in the work to apply for external research grants. Since the project examines a Swedish context, good knowledge of the Swedish language is necessary. The implementation of the project also requires the ability to work independently and together with others.   Qualifications To be an eligible applicant, the applicant must have a doctorate or an equivalent foreign degree in political science and good knowledge of both English and Swedish. It is advantageous if your degree has been completed no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, it can come into question as having previously completed a doctoral degree, for example in the case of various types of statutory leave. Meritorious for the position are (equally weighted): • Good knowledge of the political science literature that relates to environmental and natural resource policy • Experience of research that relates to Swedish environmental and natural resource policy (especially wild boar management) • Familiarity with theories related to collective action and co-management. • Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative methods and experience with network analysis. • Experience of studying cross-border natural resource management • Publication of research results in peer-reviewed international journals • Experience of teaching political science at bachelor's and master's level • Experience of assignments that demonstrate leadership, initiative and collaborative skills.   Information Employment period 2024-08-15 to 2026-07-31.
