The research topic of product innovation studies different aspects of innovation in the product development process, from the early idea phase to innovation in production and life cycle commitments. The subject area lies at the intersection of business development, product development and production development with product innovation in focus. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will have good opportunities to merit yourself during two years, primarily scientifically but also pedagogically within our research subject. Subject description Product innovation includes theories and methods for needs- and knowledge-driven development processes where product and service development are linked. Project description As a postdoc, you will work within the research on digitalization as a strategic driver for sustainable product innovation in the manufacturing industry. The research investigates how AI, IoT, digital twins and data analytics can be integrated in early stages of product and production development to develop resilient, circular and long-term competitive solutions. The starting point is the role of product innovation in the sustainable and digital transition. The focus is on how companies, in collaboration with system suppliers and other stakeholders, can integrate environmental, social and economic sustainability into their development and production processes. The work is conducted in close collaboration with industrial partners and contributes to knowledge development around the next generation of sustainable product and production systems. Job description The tasks of a postdoc are mainly research. Teaching and pedagogical development work may be included in the tasks with a maximum of one fifth of the working hours. You will take part in and actively contribute to collaborations with both national and international partners as well as with research groups within and outside Luleå University of Technology. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in applying for external funds. Qualifications To be eligible for employment, a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree in the relevant research area is required. It is an advantage if the degree was obtained no more than three years before the closing date for applications for this post. If there are special reasons, those who have obtained a doctoral degree earlier may be considered, for example in the case of various types of statutory leave. A track record of engagement with the community of which the University is part, as well as national and international experience and mobility are highly valued. You should be recognized as a leader among junior researchers in your field and have a proven track record of very high quality research. Good oral and written communication skills in English are a requirement, Swedish is an advantage. Great importance is also attached to suitability. Desirable personal qualities are good collaborative skills, initiative, interest in development work and the ability and desire to make an academic career. Information about the position This position is a full-time position for two years with the possibility of extension for up to a maximum of three years. Place of employment Luleå.
