Luleå University of Technology is experiencing strong growth and boasts world-leading expertise in several research areas. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national, and regional companies, public sector organizations, and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has an annual revenue of just over 2.3 billion Swedish kronor. We have more than 1,800 employees and nearly 21,600 students.
The Department of Systems and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to conduct research within the signal processing research group. Ongoing research in signal processing encompasses measurement technology and wireless communication and is conducted in close collaboration with industry. In our research, we strive to understand how information can be extracted from measurement data and how this information can be reliably transmitted between different locations or at different times. We are seeking an ambitious and creative colleague who wants to contribute to cutting-edge international research.
Subject Description
The subject covers signal processing with a focus on the development and optimization of algorithms for processing one- and multidimensional signals that are closely linked to applications and applied research.

Project Description
The research project addresses quantitative non-destructive testing and evaluation of additively manufactured metal components. The work includes ultrasonic testing, conventional material characterization, and the development of a signal processing framework for training data-driven models tailored to the task. The work will be carried out in collaboration with the Department of Materials Science and our industrial partners.
Job Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will consist of research within the framework of a collaborative project. You will also be expected to participate in the supervision of doctoral students and master’s thesis students. To a limited extent—up to 20% of a full-time position—undergraduate teaching may also be included in your duties.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the postdoctoral position, you must have earned a Ph.D. in signal processing, ultrasonic signal processing, or a related field, or hold a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Ph.D. Experience in non-destructive testing and evaluation using ultrasound, as well as the inspection and characterization of additively manufactured metal components, is highly desirable. You must have very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
It is advantageous if the doctoral degree was awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Applicants who obtained their Ph.D. earlier may also be considered if there are special circumstances, such as various forms of statutory leave.
