Luleå University of Technology is growing rapidly with world-leading expertise in several research areas. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national and regional companies, public actors and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has an annual turnover of over SEK 2.3 billion. We are more than 1,800 employees and have almost 21,600 students. The research group in electronics systems at the Department of Systems and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology is established in the areas of electronics design, electrical measurement technology and electromagnetic compatibility. We are active in education and in external research projects in collaboration with industry. We have access to several laboratories, including a shielded chamber for measuring electromagnetic impact and radiation. To strengthen our research in the field of electrical machines and electrical modeling, we are now looking for a postdoctoral researcher with ambitions in academia for a position of two years. Subject description Electronic Systems covers electronics design, measurement technology and electromagnetic compatibility for control, monitoring and instrumentation of technical processes and systems, with close and broad links to applications and applied research. Project description You will participate in a research project focused on modeling parasitic currents in electric powertrains for industrial vehicles. The project aims at understanding how high frequency voltages from inverters give rise to leakage currents, shaft voltages and bearing currents in the electromechanical parts of the powertrain, including the cable system, electric machine, bearings and chassis. The focus is on identifying dominant coupling paths and critical parameters that affect these phenomena. The work includes the development of both physics-based and measurement-based models, and validation against experimental data. The models will be used to analyze how different design choices affect electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and reliability. The project is carried out in close collaboration with industrial partners and other research groups with expertise in electrical machines and tribology. Work tasks The work as a postdoc mainly involves research linked to the project described above. Supervision of students and participation in funding new projects may be included in the tasks with a maximum of 20% of working time. Qualifications To be eligible, you must have a PhD, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD, in electrical engineering or related subjects specializing in electrical machines, electromagnetism, physics, or similar. Preference should be given to those who have obtained a doctoral degree no more than three years before the deadline for applications. Excellent command of English, both oral and written. Experience in modeling of electrical and electromagnetic systems and work in electrical drive systems is an advantage. Experience in applied work with measurements and construction of experimental setups in electrical engineering is also an advantage. Information about the position Full-time employment for 2 years.
