Research is primarily conducted within international projects, in close collaboration with the manufacturing industry. The group offers an inspiring collaborative environment and strives for a well-balanced mix of women and men, with both Swedish and international backgrounds. The subject is part of the Department of Product and Production Development, which also includes the subject of Mechanical Design.
We are now seeking a postdoctoral researcher who can strengthen the group through research and teaching in materials engineering and manufacturing technologies.
Subject Description
Production development encompasses both individual manufacturing processes and techniques, as well as the design of entire systems for industrial production. An important area is laser processing, particularly welding, surface treatment, and additive manufacturing, as well as teaching in manufacturing and production.
Project Description
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be part of a team working on various related research projects aimed at developing a deep understanding of laser-based material processing technology. The projects primarily focus on additive manufacturing and surface treatment using experimental methods such as high-speed cinematography and thermography.
Job Responsibilities
As a postdoctoral researcher, your main responsibility will be to conduct experimental and theoretical research in the field of laser material processing, which will be published in peer-reviewed international journals or presented at major national and international conferences. This also includes project management, documentation, and collaboration. The position will involve participation in the department’s activities, teaching in production engineering, and support for assigned projects.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent foreign degree in mechanical engineering or materials engineering. It is advantageous if your degree was awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline for this position. In special circumstances, candidates who earned their doctoral degree earlier may be considered, for example, in cases of various types of legally mandated leave.
A strong interest, curiosity, and passion for research are prerequisites, along with personal qualities relevant to doctoral studies. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. International candidates are expected to be interested in learning Swedish.
