The job placement is at the Department of Space Technology in Kiruna. The division offers a number of master's programs in space science and technology. We conduct research in the fields of atmospheric science and space systems. The Space Systems group focuses on payloads, spacecraft and launch vehicles for the exploration of the upper atmosphere, orbits and planets. The research and teaching carried out is supported by high quality infrastructure with state-of-the-art laboratories dedicated to rocket propulsion systems, nano satellites, asteroid engineering and space avionics. Subject description Space systems include systems for regulation, control, instrumentation and communication in the upper atmosphere and space. Of particular importance are reliable electronic systems with low power consumption, radiation resistance and their miniaturization. Project description As part of a project funded by the Swedish National Space Board and Space Sweden North, you will join an academic team working in close collaboration with industrial partners to further develop Sweden's space sector in research, development and testing of spacecraft avionics, on-board computing and its applications for nanosatellite missions. Duties and responsibilities As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be involved in the research on spacecraft avionics - especially in on-board computing and nanosatellite missions. You will be involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in space systems, supervising master and PhD students, and working on grant applications to initiate new project-based research directions related to the research conducted in space systems. The applicant is expected to participate in the group's joint development of the research and education area and to collaborate with research groups both within the department, the university and with other universities, colleges and other external parties, both nationally and internationally. Qualifications To be eligible, applicants must have a PhD or equivalent foreign degree in space science or another discipline, with a primary focus on small satellites. Preference should be given to those who have obtained a doctoral degree no more than three years before the deadline for applications. Evaluation is based on the applicant's research, teaching, and industrial projects. Emphasis shall be given to the qualities that are applicable to contribute to the future development of rocket propulsion systems at Luleå University of Technology, regarding both research and teaching. Applicants should have good communication skills, you must be able to express yourself in English, at advanced level, in writing and orally to present and publish research results internationally.
