The research subject Wood and Bionanocomposites, at the Division of Materials Science at Luleå University of Technology, is looking for a senior research engineer to take responsibility and maintain laboratories and equipment, contribute with materials engineering expertise in research projects and participate in teaching especially in laboratory work but also in teaching. Project description The subject of wood and bionanocomposites involves the production of biocomposites based on renewable raw materials, for example from residual products from the forest, food and agricultural industries. The focus of our research is the manufacture and material development of these raw materials with a focus on processes such as extrusion, compression molding, injection molding, electrospinning, film forming and 3D printing for various applications. Duties of the position The tasks include being responsible for our laboratories and equipment, leading the work on laboratory safety, maintenance of process and characterization equipment, having an interest in assisting with administrative tasks, taking care of ordering goods and equipment, participating in various research projects and assisting in teaching, supervision of project work that has laboratory elements. Qualifications You will have a PhD in biomaterials, biocomposites, composite materials or similar. You have experience in manufacturing processes of biopolymers and biocomposite materials, which is a large part of the work so special emphasis is placed on experience in processes such as extrusion, injection molding and 3D printing. You should show motivation and a strong interest in characterization of these materials and have experience in microscopy techniques such as electron microscopy and atomic probe microscopy, and in testing the mechanical and thermal properties of the material etc. You must have a good knowledge of the English language both in writing and speech, must have good collaboration skills, have the ability to take your own initiative and an interest in supervising/helping students at different levels and be able to participate in teaching especially with project work and laboratories.
