Robotics & AI Group at Luleå University of Technology is looking for a motivated research engineer with a focus on hardware and software development for autonomous robots.

 

The Robotics & AI Group is involved in many field-oriented projects, requiring a versatile and proactive person who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

 

Project description

You will be part of a prominent team and collaborate with a group of highly diverse people working in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.

 

Duties

  • Translate MATLAB code to Python/C++.
  • Create simulation environments for various applications.
  • Develop and optimize software for robotic systems using Python and C++.
  • Work with ROS (Robot Operating System) for robot control, navigation and perception.
  • Integrate hardware and software components for real-time applications within ROS.
  • Provide support during experiments, both in lab environment and in the field.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to improve system performance.
  • Perform soldering and maintenance of robots.
  • Help manage inventory of electrical spare parts and lab equipment.
  • Help maintain and upgrade lab equipment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electronics or other relevant field (Bachelor or Master degree).
  • Good knowledge of Python and C++ for robotic applications.
  • Experience with ROS (ROS1 or ROS2)
  • Knowledge of MATLAB for simulation and analysis.
  • Experience with robot perception systems, control and kinematics.
  • Experience with Linux environments and version management (Git).
  • Practical experience in building robots and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Willingness to travel and adapt quickly to new challenges.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Additional qualifications (desirable)

  • B driving license (EU).
  • Drone pilot certificate (EU).
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in robotics
  • Experience with hardware interfaces, sensors and actuators

Information

The position is full-time for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Place of work Luleå. Access as soon as possible or by agreement.
