The Department of Health, Education and Technology is looking for a Professor and Chair in Physical Therapy and Health Promotion. The position is located at the Division of Health, Medicine and Rehabilitation in Luleå, where we offer education in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, health counseling and psychology. Research in physiotherapy and health promotion examines how human movement affects health and quality of life. The subject studies factors that promote active and sustainable living and develops strategies to enhance function, activity and participation. Taking a holistic approach, research covers how health can be promoted and maintained, and how ill-health can be prevented and alleviated through interventions at individual, group and community levels. The topic also includes research on ways to manage and treat conditions that limit mobility, with the aim of optimizing health and well-being. Our research is conducted in close collaboration with national and international partners, including regions, municipalities, healthcare providers, companies and academic institutions. Through these partnerships, we ensure that our research is both scientifically strong and practically applicable, contributing to the development of treatments and policies in healthcare and public health. Our research is supported by a wide range of EU programmes, national research councils, foundations, and various patient and stakeholder organizations. Subject description Physiotherapy and Health Promotion focuses on human movement and its impact on health and quality of life. The subject aims to identify and strengthen factors that contribute to an active and healthy life. It includes health promotion and prevention at the individual, group and community levels, as well as treating conditions that limit function, activity and participation. Duties and responsibilities As Professor and Head of Subject, you will have a clear leadership role with overall responsibility for the development of the subject in research, doctoral education and education at undergraduate and advanced levels. Your work includes: - Managing and developing a sustainable research environment in the department and university - Attracting external research funding, both independently and in collaboration with others - Teaching, supervision and examination at all levels of education - Planning and management of research and postgraduate education at national and international level together with the other department chairs - Active participation in collaboration with society and academic stakeholders - Conducting own research Eligibility Those who have demonstrated both academic and teaching expertise are eligible for appointment as professor. Equal attention shall be paid to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific competence. - be outstanding in his/her field of study and have a record of scholarly activity of high international standard, showing a clear progression in quality - have a total scholarly output equivalent in quantity to at least three doctoral theses including the doctoral dissertation - demonstrate academic leadership, including through - experience of research-related positions of trust as an expert, opponent and/or member of an examination committee - experience in research project management - experience of applying for and being awarded external funding for research projects in competition as principal applicant - experience of internal assignments within the university - experience of pedagogical leadership - have experience of supervision at doctoral level and, unless there are exceptional reasons, have been the principal supervisor of at least one doctoral student throughout the period from admission to the doctoral degree - demonstrate pedagogical skills through reflective experience, teaching skills and teaching development - demonstrate the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society, through, among other things - making new knowledge available to the surrounding community - incorporating societal needs into research and/or educational contexts.
