The Department of Health, Education and Technology provides education at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level. The department provides education for nurses, radiology nurses, several programs for specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists and bachelor's degrees in health guidance and psychology. The department conducts research and postgraduate education in the subjects of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nursing and psychology. We are now looking for a professor in nursing. Within the subject of nursing at Luleå University of Technology there are three thematic areas: Suffering from acute illness or injury, Promoting health throughout life and Recovery-oriented psychiatric care.
Subject description
Nursing focuses on areas that aim to improve human health, prevent illness and disease, and restore and maintain health, alleviate suffering and safeguard human integrity and dignity. Key areas are human and health, environment and nursing action and processes related to these areas.
Duties and responsibilities
As a professor of nursing, you lead and further develop research and educational activities in the subject. You will follow the international development of the subject, supervise PhD students, initiate and run research projects and disseminate research results through scientific publications. You are expected to contribute to bringing external research funding to the subject, and to be active in the national and international research community. Teaching, supervision and examination in the nursing, radiology and specialist nursing programs are included in the assignment. Together with chairs, professors, assistant professors and senior lecturers, you are responsible for the development of the subject at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral level. The position requires good collaboration skills, flexibility and the ability to work independently. The ability to interact with the surrounding community, communicate research and develop and establish national networks is of great importance.
Eligibility
Those who have demonstrated both scientific and teaching skills are eligible for appointment as professor. Equal attention shall be paid to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific competence.
To meet the requirements for appointment as professor, the applicant shall
- be outstanding in his/her field of study and demonstrate scientific activity of a high international standard, showing a clear progression in quality
- have a total scholarly output equivalent in quantity to at least three doctoral theses including the doctoral dissertation
- demonstrate academic leadership, including through
- experience of research-related positions of trust as an expert, opponent and/or member of an examination committee
- experience in research project management
- experience of applying for and being awarded external funding for research projects in competition as principal applicant
- experience of internal assignments within the university
- experience of pedagogical leadership
- have experience of supervision at doctoral level and, unless there are exceptional reasons, have been the principal supervisor of at least one doctoral student throughout the period from admission to the doctoral degree
- demonstrate pedagogical skills through reflective experience, teaching skills and teaching development
- demonstrate the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society, through, among other things
- making new knowledge available to the surrounding community
- incorporating societal needs into research and/or educational contexts.
