The subject of production engineering uses advanced experimental and theoretical methods. Research is mostly conducted in international projects, in close collaboration with the engineering industry. The group offers an inspiring collaborative environment and strives for a well-balanced composition between women and men, with Swedish and international backgrounds. The subject is part of the Division of Product and Production Development, which also includes Mechanical Engineering. We are now looking for another professor who can strengthen the group with research and teaching in materials engineering and manufacturing techniques. Subject description Production development includes both individual processes and techniques for manufacturing, as well as the design of entire systems for industrial production. An important area is laser processing. Duties and tasks - Contributes substantially to external funding in the subject, through applications - Examiner and teacher in the subject's courses, in undergraduate education - Supervision of degree projects. - Research project management and project tasks - Supervision of doctoral students - Contributes to the leadership of the research team - Contributes to the experimental activities, in the laser lab - Taking some assigned responsibility roles in the subject - Other tasks according to the needs of the subject or university Eligibility A person is eligible for appointment as a professor if he/she has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical competence. Equal attention shall be paid to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific competence. To meet the requirements for appointment as professor, the applicant shall - be outstanding in his/her field of study and have a record of scholarly activity of a high international standard, showing a clear progression in quality - have a total scholarly output equivalent in quantity to at least three doctoral theses including the doctoral dissertation - demonstrate academic leadership, including through - experience of research-related positions of trust as an expert, opponent and/or member of an examination committee - experience in research project management - experience of applying for and being awarded external funding for research projects in competition as principal applicant - experience of internal assignments within the university - experience of pedagogical leadership - have experience of supervision at doctoral level and, unless there are exceptional reasons, have been the principal supervisor of at least one doctoral student throughout the period from admission to the doctoral degree - demonstrate pedagogical skills through reflective experience, teaching skills and teaching development - demonstrate the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society, through, among other things - making new knowledge available to the surrounding community - incorporating societal needs into research and/or educational contexts. Evaluation criteria The following evaluation criteria apply to the post: - Scientific excellence - Teaching skills - Other assessment criteria Other assessment criteria, ranked by priority: - Ability to teach and communicate in Swedish and English, at a professional level in speech and writing - Several years of experience through engineering work in the engineering industry - Experience of leading assignments - Ability to obtain external research and development funding - Ability to develop and manage activities and staff within the University - Administrative skills relevant to the subject matter and duties of the post - Leadership skills - Ability to publish at a high scientific level and to supervise doctoral students in the research focus of the subject.
