Analytical chemistry, isotope geochemistry, environmental mineralogy and environmental forensics are important parts of the subject's research areas. Applied Geochemistry needs to increase its staff with research engineers during the summer.
Project description
Applied Geochemistry at LTU focuses on the occurrence and mobility of elements and geochemical processes that occur in rock, soil and water at the earth's surface. The research covers both natural and anthropogenic sources influenced by the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere. This is achieved by combining analytical chemistry, isotope geochemistry, environmental forensics and environmental mineralogy. Research and training in the subject addresses environmental issues related to the mining industry, infrastructure construction, acid sulfate soils and sulfide-bearing rocks.
Job description
Duties of the Research Engineer in Applied Geochemistry during the summer months include 1) field work in various projects 2) filtration of various water samples 3) sample handling 4) data analysis. The applicants are expected to be able to work independently but in collaboration with the Applied Geochemistry research group at LTU.
Qualifications
To obtain employment as a research engineer, at least a high school diploma is required.
Applicants must have a background in environmental geochemistry. Emphasis will be placed on personal skills and aptitude
