Background The research topic applied geochemistry belongs to the Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources, where research and education in the field of mining, construction and the environment contribute to the development of a long-term sustainable society. Analytical chemistry, isotope geochemistry, environmental mineralogy and environmental forensics are important parts of the subject's research areas. Applied geochemistry needs to increase its staff with research engineers during the autumn. Subject description Applied geochemistry includes the study of the occurrence and mobility of elements in rocks, soil and water, with a focus on methods to prevent or reduce environmental impacts from metal extraction and community building. Job duties In the role of research engineer, you will work in various projects within the applied geochemistry research group. Tasks will include laboratory work with sequential leaching, hydroseparation and SEM-EDS measurements, and field work with groundwater and surface water sampling. Eligibility requirements Applicants must have a background in environmental geochemistry. Weight will be placed on personal competence and suitability. Period of employment This is a full-time position from 1st August to 31st December 2024.
