The research topic communication and computing systems at the department of computer science at Luleå University of Technology is now looking for a researcher. The subject is particularly active in areas such as new algorithms and knowledge models for artificial intelligence, systems and software engineering for future industrial automation systems, efficient and reliable embedded computing, and automation of energy systems and data centers. Subject description The subject includes research linked to the integrated development and management of reliable network architectures, resource-efficient algorithms and programming paradigms that work together to create reliability properties in selected applications. Project description Research in the subject of communication and computing systems is primarily focused on modern computer technology, for example system design and validation of industrial control and automation systems, simulation and verification, neuromorphic computer architectures and communication. You will conduct research in the area of ​​hyperdimensional computing and vector symbolic architectures and contribute research results to the ongoing and future research projects in the group. The position also includes searching for, leading and collaborating in research projects as well as communicating and disseminating research results. You have a solid background in the following areas Computer science • Effective sketches of data structures • Hyperdimensional computation • Compositionally distributed representations of data structures • Associative memories with high information capacity • Analogical reasoning for knowledge bases Job duties As a researcher, you will have the following duties: • To create new methods based on Hyperdimensional Computing/Vector Symbolic Architectures (HDC/VSA) to develop AI algorithms; • To develop the hybrid architectures that combine the strengths of deep learning and HDC/VSA; The position as a researcher essentially involves research in one of the most important subjects for communication and computer systems. As a researcher, you will contribute to research, publication and educational activities as well as collaborate within the framework of the subject's broad industrial and academic contact network through national and international collaborative projects. Qualifications To be eligible to be employed as a researcher, a doctorate in computer science with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence or an equivalent foreign degree in the mentioned field is required. We are looking for a researcher with a scientific focus on mathematical properties of high-dimensional random representation space, hyperdimensional computations (so-called vector symbolic architectures) and core methods in machine learning. Previous publications and experience in carrying out research projects in the above area is a requirement. You must have solid experience of independent research work within the project's scientific area proven by a high citation index (Google Scholar h-index >=30) with expert knowledge of HDC/VSA. You must also have proven ability to finance your research through granted individual national funds (e.g. the Foundation for Strategic Research, the Swedish Research Council, etc.).
