We are now seeking a Senior Research Engineer who wants to strengthen our research environment and contribute to several of our research and innovation projects focused on sustainability, circularity, and industrial transition.
Project Description
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will work on projects in product innovation with various industrial applications. The work may, for example, involve circular and sustainable value chains, the development of products, services, and production systems, innovation and business development, as well as opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to grow within new industrial ecosystems. Areas of application may include the food sector as well as advanced manufacturing and emerging value chains in fields such as Big Science, space, and aviation.
A common feature of the projects is close collaboration with companies and other stakeholders, as well as the ambition to translate research into practical benefits through methods, tools, analyses, models, and other forms of support for innovation and sustainable transition.
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities are varied and are carried out in close collaboration with researchers, doctoral students, and external project partners. Among other things, you will participate in the planning and implementation of research and innovation projects, establish contacts and collaborate with companies, conduct data collection and empirical studies, and analyze, document, and communicate results.
The role may also include planning and conducting workshops, interviews, surveys, and company studies; developing and testing methods and tools together with project partners; contributing to reports and other publications; and supporting project management and coordination. Job responsibilities are tailored to the needs of the projects and the employee’s skills and experience.
Qualifications
For the position of Senior Research Engineer, a college or university degree is required in, for example, industrial economics, technical design, mechanical engineering, production, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainable development, food science, or another field deemed relevant to the job duties.
We are looking for someone with relevant education and a strong interest in product innovation, sustainability, and the circular economy. Experience with research and development projects, innovation work, project management, or collaboration with companies and other external stakeholders is a plus. Experience in the manufacturing industry, small and medium-sized enterprises, the food sector, or advanced industrial environments is also a plus.
The position requires that you are able to express yourself well in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Swedish is a plus. We place great emphasis on personal fit. You must be able to work independently and in a structured manner, while also enjoying collaboration in interdisciplinary teams and with external partners. We value initiative, curiosity, and the ability to translate ideas and knowledge into practical work.
Information
This is a full-time position for 12 months. The position is based in Luleå. Expected start date to be agreed upon.
