The Water Resources Engineering research group at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering, Luleå University of Technology, is looking for a first research engineer specializing in wastewater treatment. Subject description Urban water engineering covers the entire urban water system (storm, drinking and wastewater) with regard to collection, transport and treatment as well as organization / planning. The research aims at a good socio-economy and environment, wise use of resources and the safety and health of citizens. Project description The project aims to investigate different types of small wastewater facilities with regard to micropollutants (PFAS, pharmaceuticals, hormones) and metals. Operation of a pilot scale reed bed plant is included as well as sampling of bacteria and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Duties and responsibilities The tasks include the planning and implementation of sampling at five wastewater treatment plants, scientific evaluation of the results and writing a scientific publication. Qualifications For the Senior Research Engineer, a university degree and experience in water and wastewater systems, wastewater treatment and chemistry is required. Experience in sampling, laboratory work and chemical analysis is required. Driving license is required to reach the sampling sites. Good knowledge of English is an advantage.
