Are you the one?
Luleå University of Technology is experiencing strong growth and boasts world-leading expertise in several research areas. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national, and regional companies, public sector organizations, and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has an annual revenue of just over 2.3 billion Swedish kronor. We have more than 1,800 employees and nearly 21,600 students.

Would you like to help shape the digital university of the future—while continuing to work hands-on with technology?

Luleå University of Technology is undergoing a comprehensive digital transformation. We are modernizing our IT landscape, developing our integration capabilities, and creating new solutions using cloud platforms, data, and AI.

This role is for someone who is already working as a solutions architect—or who has a solid background in systems development and technical design and is ready to take the next step.

The Role

As a solutions architect, you’ll play a central role in shaping the university’s future IT infrastructure. You’ll work closely with business units, development teams, administrative managers, IT operations, information security, and external vendors.

This is a hands-on architectural role; for example, it may involve developing prototypes and reference implementations, conducting technical tests, or working with developers to verify that a proposed solution works in practice.

You will participate hands-on in development, technical testing, and verification of proposed solutions, and contribute to troubleshooting and technical problem-solving alongside the development teams. You will also evaluate AI services and platforms based on business value, functionality, security, data protection, cost, and manageability, as well as serve as a technical sounding board and foster consensus between business and IT.

You will be part of development teams and selected delivery teams within the university’s administrative organization. You will also participate as a solutions architect in projects and other development initiatives. Together with the university’s architecture group, you will contribute to common working methods, vision statements, and long-term technical roadmaps.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • relevant academic education in IT, systems science, or equivalent expertise deemed comparable by the employer
  • experience in system development and hands-on work with technical solutions
  • experience in technical design, system architecture, or solution architecture
  • a solid understanding of system integration, APIs, and information flows
  • the willingness and ability to combine architectural work with hands-on technical and development work

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:

  • Microsoft Azure or other public cloud platforms
  • Azure AI services, Azure AI Foundry and AI platforms
  • integration platforms, API management, and event-driven solutions
  • container-based environments and modern application platforms
  • development in .NET/.NET Core, or Java
  • Experience working in the public sector

Who are you?

You take the initiative and drive issues forward, while also being responsive and building trust when collaborating with others. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and thrive on working closely with developers and other technical specialists.

We believe you are:

  • structured and responsible
  • collaborative and unpretentious
  • curious about new technology and interested in the possibilities and limitations of AI
  • a long-term thinker in your decisions and mindful of security, cost, and manageability.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
