We are now seeking a dedicated assistant professor in education with a focus on visual arts who wants to help train the teachers of the future and thereby contribute to development in close collaboration with schools and society.

The position as university lecturer is based at the Department of Health, Learning, and Technology on the Luleå campus and is part of the Division of Pedagogy, Languages, and Subject Didactics. The division offers teacher education programs, standalone courses, and commissioned education programs that contribute to the development of schools and help ensure a supply of qualified teachers both in our region and throughout the country.

Subject Description

Pedagogy encompasses learning, upbringing, instruction, education, and other influence processes in formal and non-formal contexts. Particular emphasis is placed on relationships, participation, collaboration, communication, the teaching profession, digital technology, and governance and leadership. Pedagogy has three specializations: general pedagogy, special education, and early childhood education. Research within these specializations is conducted with a focus on their specific target groups and in relation to the conditions, content, actors, and contexts within pedagogy.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities consist of teaching visual arts and aesthetic learning processes in the preschool teacher and elementary teacher education programs. The applicant is also expected to actively participate in departmental work, program and course development, and to keep abreast of developments and research trends in the field. The position also involves taking responsibility for and actively participating in collaboration with the surrounding community.

Qualifications

To meet the requirements for employment as a university lecturer, the applicant must

  • have completed a university degree comprising at least 180 credits or the equivalent
  • demonstrate teaching proficiency.

Other Evaluation Criteria

  • Teacher training is considered an asset

The position is a fixed-term, 50% position for the period from October 19, 2026, through June 30, 2026, or as agreed, with the possibility of extension. Location: Luleå.
