Background As a teacher in the Political Science unit, you will be involved in the delivery of our courses. You will use your expertise to support student learning to achieve the goals of the program. Inspiring students to develop is stimulating and, as with other challenging tasks, you get a lot back. The Unit of Political Science at Luleå University of Technology is part of the Division of Social Sciences at the Department of Business, Technology, Arts and Society. In addition to political science, the division consists of the subject units of law, history and economics with a total of about 70 employees. Research at the various subjects within the division is focused on various social science aspects of the environment and natural resources. The unit is in an expansion phase and needs to strengthen the teaching of the subject. Subject description Political science is the scientific study of politics and political systems and includes both empirical and theoretical studies. Research focuses on issues related to how natural resources, energy, and environmental conflicts and agreements are managed by individuals and interest groups as well as by political and administrative systems. Dominant research areas are public policy and administration, institutional analysis, comparative politics, public opinion studies and political theory. Duties and responsibilities You will work with teaching and related tasks. Teaching includes course planning and development, course responsibility, examination and supervision in the political science bachelor's program and in political science courses in other programs. Teaching at the bachelor's level is in both Swedish and English. The undergraduate program in Political Science at Luleå University of Technology includes political theory, international relations and Swedish and comparative politics, as well as courses in, for example, political science methods and public administration. Teaching is conducted both on campus and at a distance. Qualifications Qualified to be employed as a lecturer are those who: - a university degree of at least 180 credits or equivalent - have demonstrated teaching skills Other meritorious qualifications - Completed higher education pedagogical education equivalent to 7.5 credits or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge - Documented competence and experience of teaching political science - Documented competence and experience of teaching at a distance, including course development in digital environments, - Knowledge of the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology on learning and the ability to create pedagogically and visually accessible learning resources - Experience of working in the public sector, particularly in roles involving the exercise of authority, coordination or citizen contact - Familiarity with interdisciplinary perspectives on power, identity, professions, street-level bureaucracy and organization - knowledge of how artificial intelligence (AI) affects professional roles in the public sector, especially in relation to accountability, governance and organizational change, and how new technologies change policy implementation - Good ability to communicate research-based content in an accessible and popular way, and experience in producing visually structured teaching materials - Good interpersonal skills - Good knowledge of Swedish and English Information to be provided The position is fixed-term full-time during the period June 1, 2025 through May 30, 2026 or as agreed and with the possibility of extension.
