We are now looking for a committed lecturer in special education who wants to be involved in training the teachers of the future and thus contribute to development in close collaboration with school and society.

 

The position as a lecturer is located at the Department of Health, Education and Technology on the Luleå campus and belongs to the Department of Education, Language and Subject Didactics. At the department, teacher education, independent courses and commissioned education are conducted that contribute to the school's development and supply of qualified teachers in our region as well as the country as a whole.

 

Topic description

 

Pedagogy includes learning, upbringing, teaching, education and other processes of influence in formal and non-formal contexts. It has a particular focus on relationships, participation, collaboration, communication, the teaching profession, digital technologies, and governance and management. Education has three specializations: general education, special education and early childhood education. The research within the specializations is based on their specific target groups, and in relation to conditions, content, actors and contexts in pedagogy.

 

Tasks

 

The tasks consist of teaching in teacher programs at basic and advanced levels in teacher education as well as in independent courses. Special education is a central part of the educational science core in the various programs in teacher education at Luleå University of Technology and teaching in these courses is included in the tasks. Teaching takes place in the special education program, the special education teacher program and in independent special education courses included in the tasks. The service also includes teaching in the preschool teacher program and the primary teacher program with a focus on language and knowledge development methods as well as language, writing and reading development. Supervision of students at different levels in programs with special education content is also part of the duties. The applicant is expected to actively participate in the work of the department, in program and course development, and to follow research developments in the field of special education nationally and internationally. The position also includes responsibility for and active participation in collaboration with external actors in the surrounding society.

 

Qualifications

 

To meet the requirements for employment as a lecturer, the applicant must

  • have completed a university degree of at least 180 credits or the equivalent
  • demonstrate pedagogical skills.

Information

 

The position is limited in time on a full-time basis during the period 2026-08-10 up to and including 2027-01-31 or by agreement and with the possibility of extension. Location: Luleå.
