We are now seeking an advisor to the university president who wishes to contribute to the university’s long-term development by strengthening the interplay between art, technology, social sciences, health, and learning in connection with research, education, and collaboration. As part of the university’s central management team, you will have overall responsibility for developing a university culture where creativity is explored from various perspectives and where creativity serves as a driving force for development and innovation. You will report directly to the Vice-Chancellor and be a member of the university’s management team.

The role of the Vice-Chancellor’s Advisor entails:

  • Leading the university’s strategic efforts to strengthen creativity’s contribution to research, education, collaboration, and operational development.
  • Initiating and developing strategic regional, national, and international collaborations that strengthen the university’s creative profile and our competitiveness in securing external research funding.
  • Initiating and strengthening collaborations in education and research where artistic participation plays an important role and is a key component, resulting in new ways of addressing societal challenges and proposing new solutions.
  • Secure external funding that enables the university to implement desired initiatives and changes related to creativity.
  • Communicate and raise the profile of the university’s work related to creativity and its results at the national level.

Background and Experience

To succeed in the role of advisor to the university president, we believe you have:

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree in the arts
  • Strong national and international networks within academia, the cultural sector, the public sector, and the business community.
  • The ability to translate visions and ideas into concrete initiatives and long-term development.
  • A strong understanding of the role that higher education, research, and innovation play in societal development
  • Experience in applying for and securing external funding.
  • Experience and contacts that help raise the university’s profile in the media through news coverage of its work.

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience from various research environments.
  • Experience with international activities.
  • Experience initiating and leading major development or innovation projects.
  • Experience working at the intersection of art, technology, and society.

  • Creative, curious, and development-oriented.
  • Ability to inspire and foster engagement.
  • Ability to build trust and foster collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to operate in diverse cultural and social contexts.
