Luleå University of Technology is growing rapidly with world-leading expertise in several research areas. We shape the future through innovative education and groundbreaking research results, and based on the Arctic region, we create global social benefits. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national and regional companies, public actors and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has a total turnover of almost SEK 2.1 billion per year. We are currently 1,900 employees and have 18,700 students.
In the coming years, billions of kronor will be invested in Norrbotten and Västerbotten in major projects aimed at a more sustainable society nationally as well as globally. Luleå University of Technology is involved in several of these highly topical research projects and the social transformation that follows. We have a wide range of programs to match the skills that are in demand. We hope you want to help us build the sustainable businesses and communities of the future.
This recruitment is linked to the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE, wisematerials.org). WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is the largest ever materials science initiative in Sweden, involving major investments at Sweden's top universities over the course of 12 years. The vision is a sustainable future through materials science. Read more: https://wise-materials.org
We are now recruiting a WISE Fellowship faculty position, as Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Materials Science with a focus on composite materials. The starting package for the recruited WISE researcher includes funding for two PhD students and two postdoctoral researchers.
Luleå University of Technology, as part of the WISE program (Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability, see also www.wise-materials.org), funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is now recruiting a WISE Fellowship faculty position, as Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Materials Science with a focus on composite materials. The recruited WISE researcher will be part of a national WISE research program with many opportunities for collaboration with other researchers and stakeholders in the field. The starting package for the recruited WISE researcher includes funding for two PhD students and two postdoctoral researchers.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will be part of a larger materials research environment that includes research areas such as materials engineering, polymeric composites, wood and bionanocomposites, fluid mechanics, applied physics and biochemical process engineering. The environment contains expertise in a wide range of areas in materials science, materials chemistry, mechanics and manufacturing technology and has good experimental facilities.
The scientific challenges in composite materials are many, and the sustainability aspects are perhaps the most crucial. One of the most important areas is the synthesis of fossil-free fiber and matrix materials and the manufacture of the finished composite materials. However, there are also other challenges such as modelling of material properties and manufacturing processes, experimental multiscale characterization of processes during manufacturing and recycling.
Therefore, a general description of the scientific classification of the service is Materials Science with a focus on composite materials. At the university, research is divided into about 70 research topics. This position is placed in one of three subjects depending on the applicant's background. These three research topics are Wood and Bionanocomposites, Biochemical Process Engineering and Polymeric Composite Materials.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will work on one or more of these challenges, with a particular focus on energy efficient production of sustainable high strength composite materials.
Subject description
