Operations Engineer

At Regionnät, part of Luleå Energi Elnät, you’ll play a key role in a mission-critical operation where you’ll help ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply. You’ll be part of a dedicated, highly skilled team and have the opportunity to grow both technically and professionally while helping to drive the development of the power grid of the future.

About the Role

As an Operations Engineer, you will work with grid control and grid monitoring in our SCADA systems, as well as with integration and operations in DP Power (NIS/GIS systems). This role involves playing a central part in the operation and maintenance of the power grid.

You will be responsible for creating, reviewing, approving, and executing work orders (DO), including planning and assessing appropriate operating modes. In this role, you may also act as a switching supervisor or switching assistant when executing work orders.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues throughout the Power Grid division. You will contribute to the development of work methods, processes, and procedures to create clearer and more efficient workflows while maintaining a high level of safety. You will also work alongside colleagues who manage remotely controlled devices in the grid.

Following an introduction and training period, you are expected to become part of the company’s emergency response team.

Who are you?

We’re looking for someone who is committed, curious, and driven, with a strong interest in power grid operations and technical systems. You enjoy collaborating, building relationships, and communicating with colleagues across different parts of the organization.

As a person, you are organized, solution-oriented, and safety-conscious. You have the ability to remain calm and make well-informed decisions even in situations where conditions change rapidly. You are eager to take the initiative, identify what needs to be done, and actively contribute to developing work methods and processes. With a flexible approach and strong problem-solving skills, you find solutions that contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the power grid.

You feel confident making decisions based on established procedures, while also taking an interest in developing and improving work methods and processes. You take responsibility for your work, are eager to grow in the role, and actively contribute to the safe, efficient, and future-proof operation of the power grid.

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in electrical power engineering, industrial electricity, or a related field; or a high school diploma in electrical engineering, electrical power, industrial machinery, or process manufacturing, combined with relevant work experience.
  • Experience in operations and maintenance work related to electrical power, electrical systems, control systems, machinery, or industrial operations.
  • Class B driver’s license.
  • Strong communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

For the right candidate, the educational requirement may be offset by relevant work experience and documented expertise in electrical power, industrial operations and maintenance, or control systems.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience working as an operations engineer or in roles involving the monitoring, control, or operation of technical systems is desirable. Experience in the electric power industry and working with operating orders, switchgear, or other operations-related processes is also an advantage.

We would like to see that you have experience with SCADA systems, GIS/NIS systems, process monitoring systems, or other control systems, such as DP Power.

We believe that expertise can take many forms. Perhaps you don’t have all the experience we’re looking for right now, but you have a strong foundation, the right drive, and a desire to grow. If you feel this role is the right fit for you, we’d love for you to apply.

What do we offer?

As an employer, we place great importance on your ability to perform, deliver, and grow—but also on your well-being and happiness! That’s why we’ve designed our benefits and terms with a focus on opportunities for rest and recovery, flexibility, and health and wellness. All to provide you with the right conditions here with us. We’re proud of our work environment and culture, where diversity and equality are guiding principles and where we place a strong emphasis on both the team’s and each employee’s development and well-being.
