As a fiber splicer at NKT, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a role that offers varied and challenging tasks while being part of a team of dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues. The splicing team in Karlskrona is expanding in line with the company’s growth and is now looking for a fiber splicer for the 5th shift.
A role with broad responsibilities
The splicing team performs tasks such as fiber splicing, fiber measurements, and connections. The work is primarily performed on cable reels, turntables, in production lines, and during loading. As a fiber splicer, you’ll work on the 5-shift schedule, where collaboration is key, while also having the opportunity to contribute to your own professional development in this field.
Curious, organized, and meticulous
We are looking for someone who is curious, motivated, and eager to grow in line with established goals. The job requires that you, as a fiber cutter, have the ability to follow and adhere to given instructions and document completed work according to established procedures. Structure and attention to detail are hallmarks of your work, while being disciplined, responsible, and adaptable align with your personal qualities. A large part of the work involves manual tasks, which requires that you have technical experience and are meticulous in your work. To thrive in this role, you must be comfortable handling changes on short notice and enjoy working both in a team and independently.
The following are considered a plus:
- Required training in hot work, fall protection, forklift operation, and overhead crane operation
- Fiber optics expertise (FIMT/opto) combined with several years of experience in the field
- Certification as a fiber technician
- Computer proficiency and knowledge of software such as FastReporter
- ODF, loop boxes, OTDR. Tykoflex, end cap soldering, and end sealing
- Fluency in Swedish and good knowledge of English
- Basic cable handling skills
- Experience working with TPM and 5S
