NKT is connecting a greener world with high quality power cable technology and is at the center of the world's transition to renewable energy. At our factory in Karlskrona, Sweden, we design, develop and manufacture high-voltage cable solutions that enable this transition.
Key role in the development and innovation of mechanical testing for world-leading high-voltage products
As the demand for advanced mechanical testing increases, we are now looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join our team in Karlskrona. The core of our department includes applied mechanics, advanced testing and customized design of mechanical test solutions that support the development of new or improved products.
As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will work in a cross-disciplinary environment with a clear focus on innovation. You will provide technical support to solve complex mechanical challenges across different products and at all stages of the product development process. The role suits those who enjoy practical, hands-on work, are curious and creative, and have the ability to see the big picture and find smart solutions.
Your main tasks
- Build test setups for mechanical investigations
- Conduct advanced mechanical tests, including data collection and analysis
- Understand internal and external customers' needs and develop solutions requiring advanced mechanical testing
- Plan and execute various consulting and testing projects, from initial customer dialog to execution and reporting
- Contribute with your experience in testing in the development of future world-leading high voltage products
- Work methodically and goal-oriented and communicate clearly
- Supervise fitters
In addition to this, you also have:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- A genuine interest in practical work - you like to assemble, test and work hands-on
- Experience from mechanical workshop or similar environment
- Good familiarity with laboratory environments as well as mechanical test equipment and test setups
- Good computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and Matlab for data analysis
- Knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo or CATIA, as well as of hydraulic systems in experimental applications is meritorious
