Would you like to lead community development efforts in an ambitious inland municipality?
A (nearly) brand-new community division has set high goals for the Nordre Land—and as Head of Community Development, you will have special responsibility for coordinating with the local villages, the town of Dokka, and the municipality’s current and future business community.
The position entails broad professional responsibilities covering place development, business development, culture, land-use planning, surveying, building permits, agriculture and forestry, roads, construction, water and sewer systems, and fire and rescue services.
You will have overall responsibility for the municipality’s finances, including strategic financial management, budgeting, investments, and efficient use of resources. Financial sustainability will be a central part of your leadership responsibilities. Ahead lies a broad portfolio of investment projects to be implemented in the coming years, which will require your involvement. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to establish a strong dialogue with elected officials based on transparency, a solution-oriented approach, and fact-based proposals.
We are committed to enhancing the attractiveness of our municipality as a place to live, visit, and do business, and there will be a strong focus on collaboration and synergies between the municipality, civil society, and the leisure sector. The municipality’s role as a development partner must be defined and translated into concrete actions and tangible measures. To help you tackle tasks and achieve goals, you’ll be supported by many competent, dedicated, and positive colleagues. We believe you’ll achieve the most by allowing them to thrive within a supportive environment—as part of a strong community.

Together, we create a place where people belong—with security, community, and the freedom to grow. Our values are openness, proactivity, and accountability, and they should shape everyday life in the municipality.
Who are you?

We don’t know whether you have a background in the private or public sector, but regardless, we want you to challenge the organization’s established mindset. You have strong interpersonal skills, are capable of thinking on a societal level, and we would be surprised if you did not have a college degree. Your analytical skills are well-developed, and you have experience at a strategic leadership level. You must be passionate about vibrant and thriving local communities and able to establish constructive dialogue with local stakeholders.
We believe you have an eye on the future, while also being concerned with and engaged in everyday challenges.
