There is an opening for an 85% temporary position as a homeroom teacher at Torpa Elementary and Middle School in Nordre Land Municipality. The temporary position is for the period October 1, 2026 – June 20, 2027.

Torpa Elementary and Middle School is a K-10 school, and the temporary position primarily covers 5th grade.

Job Responsibilities:

The homeroom teacher has a special responsibility to monitor students’ academic, social, and personal development and must contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment.

The position involves serving as a liaison between students, parents/guardians, and the school, as well as ensuring effective communication and collaboration regarding students’ education and well-being. The homeroom teacher is responsible for coordinating activities for the student group, contributing to comprehensive support for each individual student, and fostering effective collaboration among staff and with parents.

  • Approved teacher training.
  • Relationship-building: Ability to get to know the students well, and through this facilitate better learning and well-being.
  • Holistic view of students: Ability to track students’ development over time.
  • Influence: Ability to contribute directly to the classroom environment and inclusion.
  • Collaboration: Ability to contribute to good collaboration with colleagues and supervisors, thereby facilitating positive outcomes.
  • Mastery: Ability to help students overcome challenges.

Personal qualities:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage the classroom.
  • Being structured and having strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle demanding situations with calm and professionalism.
  • Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration.
