The general practitioners and staff at Nordre Land Municipality are thriving, and we’d like to welcome more general practitioners to our team:
There is one general practitioner position available at the Torpa Medical Office. We are looking for someone who is a specialist in general practice, an ALIS physician, or a physician who wishes to start as an ALIS physician.
The position is available starting March 1, 2027. Start date to be agreed upon.
The municipality has decided to increase the number of general practitioner positions from five to nine, with each general practitioner having 800 patients. All GP positions, with the exception of one at the Torpa medical office, have been filled. The GP position was created to improve services for residents and to enhance the daily work experience for GPs.
We are looking for someone who finds general practice exciting and interesting and who wants experienced and skilled general practitioners and support staff as colleagues. As of September 1, 2026, Nordre Land Municipality is responsible for operating the general practice offices. In practice, this means that new general practitioners will not be required to buy into the practice. The municipality retains the basic subsidy. Our general practitioners are self-employed.
Nordre Land Municipality has approximately 6,600 residents. Dokka is the administrative center of the municipality and was designated Norway’s first official “Village.” It offers a good selection of shops and services; in addition, Dokka Camping has been named the public’s favorite campground for several years in a row and stands out as one of the municipality’s cultural attractions. The municipality has preschools, an elementary school, and a middle school with a swimming pool. Torpa is located close to the municipality’s “innermost gem,” Synnfjellet and Spåtind. Nordre Land Municipality is among the 10 largest cabin municipalities in the Innlandet region and offers excellent outdoor recreation opportunities year-round.
The municipality has expanded the number of general practitioner positions to nine. Eight of these positions are filled by specialists in general medicine and ALIS physicians. The municipality also has two LIS1 physicians. The municipality is registered as a training institution for ALIS physicians and has developed a General Training Plan. The municipality has an agreement with Innlandet Hospital and the Beitostølen Health and Sports Center regarding institutional services. The municipality currently has two family physician offices: Landsbylegene Dokka and Torpa Medical Office. It takes approximately 30 minutes to travel from Dokka to Gjøvik, and approximately 30 minutes from Torpa to Lillehammer. The general practitioners’ offices are located about 17 km apart (15 min), and it takes just over 1 hour to reach Hamar and 2 hours to reach Oslo.
Torpa Medical Office is located approximately 17 km from Dokka and currently has three general practitioner positions and one LIS1 physician. Both general practitioners are specialists in general medicine and have worked at the medical office for many years. The municipal chief medical officer works at the Torpa medical office. The Torpa medical office has capacity for 2,650 patients on its patient lists.
Landsbylegene Dokka is located in Dokka and currently has six primary care physician positions and one LIS1 physician. There is one general practitioner who is a specialist in general medicine and five ALIS doctors at the office. As of today, there is capacity for 4,795 patients on the patient lists at Landsbylegene Dokka.
The Torpa Medical Office operates smoothly, with a good work environment, stable primary care physicians, and support staff. The medical office is also well-equipped and uses the Infodoc Plenario medical record system (EG).
The municipality has a dedicated position for a nursing home physician, and the nursing home is located in Dokka. The municipal chief medical officer holds a 40% position. There is intermunicipal cooperation on environmental health, organized as an IKS with Gjøvik as the host municipality.
General practitioners in the municipality participate in the on-call service at the Gjøvik Intermunicipal Medical On-Call Service (GIL). GIL provides on-call medical services for Gjøvik, Østre and Vestre-Toten, Nordre and Søndre Land. At night, it also covers Lunner and Gran. GIL is a medical on-call service in on-call class 1, cf. SFS 2305. GIL is located in modern, spacious facilities, co-located with
Innlandet Hospital Gjøvik. The emergency medical service is open from 3:00 PM to 8:00 AM on weekdays and 24 hours a day on weekends and holidays. There are at least 2 doctors and 2 nurses on duty at all times, including at night. A fixed salary is paid for night shifts, cf. the applicable collective bargaining agreement (SFS 2305). During the day and in the evening, the doctors are self-employed. Doctors in the GLT region should expect approximately 6–8 on-call shifts per quarter, and doctors in Hadeland should expect 2–3 on-call shifts (night shifts only). Efforts are made to accommodate both the timing of shifts (specific weekdays/weekends) and the type of shift (evening/night). There is also the option to take on additional shifts, subject to further agreement with the emergency medical service.
