In the Sports division, we work with some of Norsk Tipping’s most popular and dynamic products. Here, we develop the user experiences for Oddsen, Tipping, and Oddsbomben. All of these products have high demands for performance, stability, and user experience.

We are now facing one of the biggest technological advancements in this product area in a long time. After the World Cup, work began on building the future of the betting experience at Norsk Tipping. Previously, parts of the customer experience were provided by external vendors, but we will now take greater ownership of the solutions and build a stronger internal technical team focused on apps, backend, and web.

This requires someone who can see the big picture. The product area consists of two teams that work closely together but need a shared technical direction to succeed across Oddsen and Pottspill. This is where you come in.

The product area consists of two teams: one working on Oddsen and one on Pottspill (Tipping and Oddsbomben). These are cross-functional teams with a product development lead, team lead, front-end and back-end developers, data specialists, UX designers, and testers. The teams work closely together and are committed to leveraging synergies across the board.

Technologically, the product area covers a wide range: native development in Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android), backend services, and web interfaces built in React. As a systems architect, you’ll have an overview of the entire system, not just the app. About 90% of traffic goes through the app, and the percentage is even higher in the Sports division. This makes the overall technical solution absolutely central to how customers experience Norsk Tipping, and it places high demands on the choices made across the various technologies.

We’re constantly working to build attractive, robust, and scalable solutions with a focus on a great user experience—in addition to building the new betting experience from the ground up. Much of this is still a work in progress: the architecture, our way of working, and how we organize ourselves across the two teams.

This gives you a real opportunity to influence the direction. This applies to the technology choices we make, how the two teams collaborate on technical solutions, and how we continue to build following the transition away from external vendor solutions.

Among other things, you’ll:

• set the technical direction for the entire Sport product area, across the Oddsen and Pottspill teams
• make key technology decisions for the new betting experience, from architecture to how we build forward
• identify and manage technical risks during the transition from third-party solutions to in-house solutions
• serve as a technical sparring partner and mentor for the developers on both teams
• Contribute to standards and technical principles that apply across the app, web, and backend
• Work closely with team leads, product development leads, and the business side to ensure that technical decisions align with the direction of the entire product area
• Balance the big picture with staying closely involved with the code and teams in day-to-day work

We believe the best technical decisions are made close to the development process. That’s why we’re looking for someone who still enjoys coding and solving problems alongside the team. This is an operational architect role, not a role on the sidelines.

We’re looking for someone with solid development experience working on complex solutions, who has previously played a central role in technology decisions and architecture work—ideally on large-scale initiatives. You have a strong understanding of risk, security, and robustness, and are able to link technical choices to business needs, not just to the systems themselves.

Because the role spans two teams, it’s crucial that you’re a unifying force: you drive the team forward, collaborate effectively with team leaders and other key roles, and are comfortable balancing the big picture with the details at the same time. You’re confident in technical discussions, take responsibility, drive progress, and build the kind of trust that makes people want you as a sounding board.

Experience with, or curiosity about, native development (Swift or Kotlin) is a plus—after all, the app is a central part of what we’re building—but the most important thing is that you’re able to see and shape the big picture.

We’re actively exploring how AI tools can be used in our development work and aim to be at the forefront of implementing them sensibly within our teams. As a systems architect, you’ll help shape how this is done—from tool selection to how it impacts architecture and workflows. This is still a field in development, and that is precisely why there is room to shape its direction.

You’ll be hired as a systems architect at Norsk Tipping and will initially work in the Sports product area. At the same time, we operate in a product-oriented organization where expertise and needs evolve over time. This means that, in the long term, you may have opportunities to contribute to other parts of the Technology Department, depending on both your interests and the company’s needs. You may also have the opportunity to help develop the enterprise architecture across different areas.
