Many Norwegians play casino games with foreign companies that do not follow Norwegian regulations. There are few limits on how much you can lose, and little help available if gambling gets out of hand. At Kasino, we’re creating a safer alternative. We want those who already gamble to do so with us and in a safer environment.

This places high demands on our solutions. They must be good enough for players to choose us, while also having accountability built in from the start.

The Casino product development area is responsible for Norsk Tipping’s online casino games and bingo, as well as for gaming terminals in physical locations (Multix and Belago). In these games, you see the results immediately. The risk is higher than in other games, which is why we have stricter requirements for how the games are offered and developed.

Our mission is to provide a legal option for those who already play casino games and to help reduce gambling problems in Norway.

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of developers, designers, testers, system architects, and business resources. We work closely with the product development area Responsibility, which creates solutions for loss limits, gaming breaks, and risk assessment, among other things.

There is currently no legal online poker offering in Norway. Nevertheless, over 100,000 Norwegians play online poker regularly, either through foreign companies or via apps where they settle their bets privately afterward. None of these have adequate responsible gaming measures.

Norsk Tipping has asked the Ministry of Culture and Equality to amend the regulations so that we can offer online poker. The decision is a political one, and the matter is currently out for public comment. If we get the green light, poker will become part of this product development area. We want to provide those who already play with a safe and legal place to do so, within the same responsible framework as for all our other games.

Right now, we’re focusing mostly on this:

• Revamping our gaming offerings to channel players’ enthusiasm toward us and provide an attractive and responsible online casino.
• Detecting early on when a player is heading toward a risky gambling pattern and preventing it from developing
• Adapting our bingo offerings to changes in the market

We’re actively exploring how AI tools can be used in our development work, and we aim to be at the forefront of implementing them sensibly within our teams.

This is still an evolving area, where we’re testing, learning, and gaining experience along the way. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape our practices, tools, and how we use AI in our day-to-day development work.

As a senior backend developer, your responsibilities will include:

• develop and further refine backend solutions for casino, bingo, and slot machines
• ensure that responsible gaming measures function as intended, in close collaboration with the Responsible Gaming team
• make technical decisions and help set the direction
• focus on quality, security, performance, and stability
• further develop CI/CD, DevOps, and work methodologies
• contribute to learning and development within the team

You have experience with backend development and have worked with complex systems. You have strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java, which are the languages we use most. You take responsibility even when the answer isn’t obvious, and you enjoy working in a team

Familiarity with Kafka is a plus, but not a requirement.

You’ll be hired as a senior developer at Norsk Tipping and will initially work in the Casino product area. At the same time, we operate in a product-oriented organization where expertise and needs evolve over time. This means that, in the long run, you may have opportunities to contribute in other parts of the Technology Department, depending on both your interests and the company’s needs.
