Are you the one?

At Øyeblikk og fysisk, we are responsible for some of Norsk Tipping’s best-known—and most physically visible—solutions. We work with the physical Flax game at retailers across the country, while also developing the digital instant games eFlax and Yezz. This is where the physical and digital worlds meet.

The division is now facing a significant technological shift. By the end of 2027, parts of today’s solutions will be phased out; we will acquire a new gaming engine for Flax; and we will further develop our digital offerings.

This means we have many balls in the air at once: existing solutions that need to be managed and safely phased out, new solutions that need to be implemented, and physical and digital channels that must work together. As a systems architect, you’ll play a central role in shaping what this landscape will look like in the future.

An area with many different needs

Our solutions are used by both external and internal customers—such as retailers and end customers— but also Norsk Tipping’s sales managers, retailer support, case handlers, and our own instant-win gaming operations.

Among other things, we are responsible for Flax-Admin, which is used to manage Flax sales, the terminals at retailers, and the digital gaming offerings eFlax and Yezz.

Good architectural choices are therefore not just about technology. They require an understanding of different user needs, the business, and how the solutions are actually used—from an agent in a store to a customer playing eFlax on their phone.

What You’ll Be Working On

Among other things, you will:

  • You will own the architectural vision for the area and ensure that technical decisions support both short-term deliverables and long-term development
  • ensure that we follow sound architectural principles
  • lead the architectural work surrounding the procurement and implementation of a new game engine for the instant games
  • plan and ensure the safe decommissioning and migration of the solutions to be phased out by 2027
  • make technology choices for the further development of Flax, eFlax, and Yezz
  • identify and manage technical risks in an environment with both legacy and newer systems
  • serve as a technical sparring partner and mentor for developers in the area
  • work closely with the business side, sales managers, and dealer services to ensure that technical decisions support the needs and direction of the area

Our solutions consist of a combination of in-house developed services, integrations with external vendors, and modern cloud-based platforms. We work with event-driven architectures, APIs, and integrations across both physical and digital channels.

Not all decisions have been made yet. Both the technology surrounding the new game engine and how we will implement the transition from current solutions are still under development. You’ll therefore be joining us at a time when there’s a real opportunity to influence the architecture and the technical direction.

What We’re Looking For

We believe the best technical decisions are made close to the development process. That’s why we’re looking for someone who still enjoys coding and solving problems alongside the team. This is an operational architecture role, not a role on the sidelines.

We’re looking for someone with solid experience as a developer in complex solutions, who has played a key role in technology decisions and architectural work in the past—ideally from large-scale initiatives, migrations, or implementations. You understand risk, security, and robustness, and you’re able to see the connection between technology and business.

Our domain won’t be a blank slate. You must be comfortable with new and old systems coexisting side by side, and with finding effective paths from the current situation to where we need to go. You thrive on complexity and a landscape that isn’t always orderly. You work in a structured manner, assess the long-term consequences of technical choices, and build trust across different professional communities.

AI in Practice

We’re actively exploring how AI tools can be used in our development work, and we aim to be at the forefront of implementing them sensibly within our teams. As a systems architect, you’ll help assess where and how AI can add value in an area that involves both building new systems and phasing out old ones—from developer tools to how we think about future solutions. This is still a field in development, which gives you the opportunity to help shape both our practices and our direction.

Where You’ll Start and How You Can Grow

You’ll be hired as a systems architect at Norsk Tipping and will initially work in the “Øyeblikk og fysisk” product area. At the same time, we operate in a product-oriented organization where expertise and needs evolve over time. This means that, in the long term, you may have opportunities to contribute to other parts of the Technology Department, depending on both your interests and the company’s needs. You may also have the opportunity to help develop the enterprise architecture across different areas.

Finally

If you enjoy solving complex challenges, driving change, and working closely with diverse user groups, we believe this is the place for you.

With us, you’ll work on solutions used by millions of Norwegians, in an environment characterized by high technical expertise, a high degree of autonomy, and a social mission as our guiding framework.
