Are you the one?

At Norsk Tipping, 13 product areas develop solutions used by millions of Norwegians. Each area is responsible for its own products. But customers don’t experience individual product areas—they experience one Norsk Tipping.

We need someone who can see the big picture. As a systems architect, you’ll work across product areas, and together with the head of enterprise architecture, you’ll ensure that individual decisions fit into the bigger picture.

That’s why we need you

We’ve built a product organization where cross-functional teams have a great deal of freedom to find the best solutions. It works well. At the same time, we see that many of our most important challenges do not stop at the boundaries of a single product area.

Some examples:

  • Overarching strategic decisions for our system portfolio and reference architecture
  • Controlled phase-out of legacy applications/technical debt across areas
  • Early-stage work on new products/services or major strategic changes

In such changes, it’s easy for each product area to handle its part well, while the big picture can become challenging. Your job is to help us avoid that.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Enterprise Architecture. The Head of Enterprise Architecture owns the target architecture and the overarching principles. You’re the one who brings them to life—together with the teams—in concrete solutions.

What You’ll Be Working On
  • putting architecture governance into practice
  • serving as a technical support and sounding board for the Head of Enterprise Architecture
  • translate the target architecture and architectural principles into concrete decisions within the product areas
  • lead the architecture work during major changes that span multiple product areas
  • identify dependencies, overlaps, and technical risks before they become a problem
  • assist product areas that do not have their own system architect
  • collaborate with the system architects in the product areas so that we share experiences and work toward a common goal
  • contribute to common standards, patterns, and reusable solutions
  • Work closely with product development managers, team leads, and the business side to ensure that technical choices support the company’s direction

You won’t have all the answers. Much of the job is about asking good questions, creating a shared understanding, and helping others make good decisions.

What We’re Looking For

We believe the best architectural choices are made close to those who build the solutions. That’s why we’re looking for someone who likes to be where the action is—in the teams, in the discussions, and ideally in the code.

You have solid experience as a developer working on complex solutions and have played a key role in architecture work and technology decisions. Ideally, this experience comes from major changes, migrations, or work that has spanned multiple teams. You’ve also worked with cloud solutions, preferably AWS.

You understand risk, security, and robustness, and you’re curious about new technology. You see the connection between technology and business. You explain technical decisions in a way that everyone can understand—verbally, in writing, and with clear diagrams.

Because you work across teams, it’s important that you’re a unifying force. You build trust with people in different roles and with different needs. You’re confident enough to challenge others and humble enough to listen. You thrive on switching between the big picture and the details.

When you apply, we appreciate it when you describe what you’ve actually worked on and what role you played. That tells us more than the number of years on your resume.

AI in Practice

We actively explore how AI tools can be used in our development work to help improve the quality of our solutions. The goal is to stay far ahead of the curve, in a sensible way.

As a cross-functional systems architect, you’ll have a great vantage point. You’ll see what works in different teams and can help us learn from one another. You’ll also help assess how AI will influence our architecture and solutions going forward. The field is evolving, and that gives you the opportunity to shape its direction.
