We are looking for an experienced Construction Engineer focusing on rotating equipment to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent Cathode Active Materials team based in Skellefteå, Sweden. By joining us, you will be a key player in ramping up giga factory ett and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job:
The Construction Engineer oversees the delivery, preservation, installation, pre-commissioning and handover to commissioning of process equipment performed by third party contractors, ensuring compliance with schedule, costs, quality, health, safety and environmental protection requirements for projects within Cathode Active Material processing, Waste Water Treatment and Utilities generation & distribution. Specifically for Process Rotating Equipment, the Construction Engineer shall have solid background in installation and pre-commissioning of pumps, compressors, screw conveyors, agitators, fans, air coolers and other rotating machinery. Relevant experience in equipment installation, quality control and vendor management is needed.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the CM in preparing and updating of construction schedules that meet Northvolt’s project objectives.
  • Ensuring the most suitable solutions in terms of assembly sequences, works scheduling,
    constructability, feasibility, etc.
  • Coordinating the site activities of contractors including interfaces with other ongoing
    projects and departments within Northvolt Ett site.
  • Checking construction progress weekly, identifying any critical aspects and requesting the necessary actions from the Contractor concerned (including for pre-fabrication shops).
  • Checking the adequacy of personnel and equipment belonging to the contractors, promoting any actions required to achieve objectives.
  • Interfacing with equipment vendors, including reviewing their documentation and deliveries for compliance as well as installation and integration at site. If necessary participate/support in FATs as well as SATs
  • Verifying that works are correctly carried out, in accordance with project documentation,
    notifying Engineering of problems encountered in the field and contribute to the
    identification and implementation of the suitable solution.
