About the position

As an automation engineer at Vakin, you will be a key person in the technical development of our water and wastewater facilities. You play a central role in developing and managing our work in automation technology and preparing investment planning and technical documentation linked to control and regulation technology towards process automation.

You will be part of the technical department for planning and investigations, which is the part of the organization that plans long-term investments and reinvestments of our facilities. A great responsibility also lies in working daily with various technical instructions to ensure that Vakin has the right facilities based on the conditions.

Your tasks include:



  • Continuous inventory and follow-up of existing facilities.
  • Create short and long-term action / investment plans for Vakin's various OT objects.
  • Investigations and preparation of feasibility studies for projects in automation and control systems
  • Development and improvement of routines, systems and processes in control technology

You will work both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues from different departments as well as with external consultants and contractors. Based on your expertise in automation, you will also act as an expert internally in some projects. A certain part of the service also includes business intelligence in the field of automation and especially in VA.

The position is located in Umeå and you report to the group manager for Technology - Planning & Investigation.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are responsible, structured and solution-oriented. You have a technical interest and a keen interest in automation. You are naturally communicative with a good ability to collaborate with others.

We believe that you have:



  • Relevant technical education (eg. college engineer or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in control engineering and process automation
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • B-driving license
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both in speech and writing




It is meritorious if you have:



  • Experience in programming in PLC systems from Siemens, ABB or Schneider
  • Experience in superordinate systems in automation
  • Experience from municipal operations
  • Worked with water technology or similar critical infrastructure
