The child welfare services in Østre Toten and Vestre Toten municipalities will enter into an inter-municipal collaboration from 01.01.2026 with Østre Toten as the host municipality. The new child welfare service will consist of 40 skilled employees whose main mandate is to ensure that children and young people who live under conditions that can harm their health and development receive the necessary help, care and protection at the right time. The child welfare service will help to ensure that children and young people are met with security, love and understanding. We will meet families with respect and openness, and work together to achieve good solutions. We collaborate with other services to provide comprehensive follow-up and support for the individual child and family.
The child protection service is organized as a business area and together with the business areas of the health centre service and the PP service, these make up the service area of children and families.
We constantly want to develop the service for the better in the meeting with children and young people. We are concerned with structure and routines and maintain a high professional standard.
The new service will consist of two examination and follow-up teams with specialization related to age. Under one team there will also be a reception team with 2 employees. Furthermore, there will be a care team and a guidance team. In addition to the child welfare manager, there are four subject managers who have subject responsibility and personnel follow-up of their teams and a subject manager with management support responsibility. These make up the service's management team. This is an exciting workplace with a focus on adaptations and development in line with the expectations and requirements placed on the municipality and the child welfare service.
Facts about the position:
There are vacancies within the investigation and follow-up, infant and toddler and youth team. The teams consist of experienced contact persons who work, among other things, with clarifying reports, conducting investigations, implementing and following up assistance measures. There is a wide variety of work tasks. The work involves case management in accordance with the Child Welfare Services Act, coordination and a good deal of meeting activity and documentation requirements. The service is staffed from 08-15.30 on weekdays, but applicants must expect to work some afternoons/evenings. The service uses a flexitime scheme. There may be periods of high work pressure with rapid changes and unpredictability in the working day. The position involves some travel. The service has company cars at its disposal, but it may be necessary to have access to your own car during working hours.
The position will be part of the new child protection service and will be effective from 01.01.2026.

In Østre Toten municipality, we focus on preventive work, early and comprehensive efforts for children, young people and families. The municipality uses the BTI model (Better Interdisciplinary Intervention) as a basis for providing the right help at the right time. The municipality is in the process of several exciting development processes concerning the organization, service content and structure. To strengthen preventive work and early intervention, a new service area, children and family, has been created within the municipal area of growth and welfare. The child protection service is a separate business area and constitutes the service area children and family, together with the business areas PP service and health center service.
