Workplace:

The Municipal Department of Health and Well-being offers services that promote well-being, independence, a sense of belonging, and participation, and is organized into five service areas. Our work is rooted in the community section of the municipal plan. 

Service Area for Adapted Services:

Adapted Services provide assistance to children, youth, and adults with disabilities. The services are organized into five units and include both 24/7 care and on-demand services in the home. Targeted environmental support is central, and great emphasis is placed on coping, self-determination, and quality of life. The service area has a strong professional environment and actively engages in ethical reflection, user participation, and individual adaptation. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to help create meaningful daily lives for people with diverse needs.

This position is part of the Adapted Services Department 2.

Department 2 provides services to a total of 22 service recipients, distributed across three residences. Services are provided to people across a wide age range who have various disabilities, ranging from 1:1 staffing to on-demand services.

Position Details:

The position involves working days and evenings and every third weekend on a rotating annual schedule, with opportunities for long shifts and alternate weekends off.

As an environmental therapist, you will play a key role in helping to develop high-quality services. We place great emphasis on positive attitudes and values in our service delivery. Environmental therapists are part of a dedicated professional forum for college-educated staff within the service. There are regular meetings led by a professional and quality development specialist affiliated with the service.

Job Responsibilities:

As a social care worker with us, you’ll have a varied and meaningful workday with professional responsibilities. Among other things, you will work on:

  • Following up on service provision in accordance with decisions, including in-home health care and/or practical assistance and training/guidance.
  • Working in a goal-oriented manner with each resident and ensuring their safety.
  • Medication management in accordance with applicable regulations. 
  • Serving as the primary point of contact and providing professional guidance—responsibility for comprehensive follow-up and close collaboration with colleagues, family members, and other partners, with a focus on each individual resident. 
  • Developing and following up on action plans and goals—tailored to each individual resident, with a clear professional foundation.
  • Decision-making – Actively participate in drafting decisions regarding the use of coercion and force in accordance with Chapter 9 of the Health and Care Services Act and follow up on these decisions.  
  • Training responsibilities in accordance with our training procedures—Serve as a key resource in the training of new employees and ensure that work tasks are performed according to high ethical standards. 

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Licensure as a social care worker is required.
  • Knowledge of the client group. 
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken Norwegian and possess strong communication skills.
  • Class B driver’s license.
  • Valid police clearance certificate.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with Chapter 9 of the Health and Care Services Act.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities.

As an employee of Østre Toten Municipality, you will be covered by a comprehensive pension and insurance plan. We offer meaningful work and an inclusive work environment. Employees are hired by Østre Toten Municipality under the terms set forth at any given time in applicable laws, regulations, and the Main Collective Bargaining Agreement. Two percent of gross salary is deducted for pension contributions.
