Norrbottensmusiken, together with Norrlandsoperan, Oulu Municipality, Vaasa Municipality, Scene Nord in Tromsö, Musik i Nordland and Nordnorsk Jazzcenter, runs the three-year Interreg Aurora/EU project Arctic Music Circle, which creates opportunities to further strengthen musical cooperation in northern Sweden, Finland and Norway. The project will create opportunities for exchanges and network building both for Norrbottensmusiken's regular activities, freelance musicians and organizers from Norrbotten and Västerbotten, in collaboration with partners and music organizations in Northern Norway and Finland.

We are looking for
We are looking for you who have relevant academic education or other work experience that is considered equivalent. You must have skills in budgeting and financial follow-up as well as good knowledge of the Swedish and English languages, spoken and written, and hold a B driving licence. We consider it an asset if you have worked on large projects with many collaboration partners.

You work results-oriented, take initiative and start activities to achieve goals and have a conscious goal and results mindset. Furthermore, you are financially aware, focus on quality and efficiency from a financial perspective.

You get to work with this
We are looking for a non-prestigious, communicative and results-oriented project manager who wants to work on strengthening our Nordic collaborations and networks. In your assignment, you are responsible for the EU/Interreg project Arctic Music Circles/Arctic Pulse, where Norrbottensmusiken is the main owner (Lead Partner), the project runs until autumn 2026. You will lead a joint team with project coordinators from Sweden, Norway and Finland, as well as lead the project's steering group consisting of representatives of the organizations Scene Nord, Musikk i Nordland, Nordnorsk Jazzsenter, Norrbottensmusiken, NorrlandsOperan, the City of Oulu, Oulu2026 and Novia in Jakobstad.

The position includes developing and planning music productions, managing group processes, coordinating project staff on site and remotely - as our international project manager, you are an enabler of music collaborations across national borders. You will produce events and tour productions of various nature, together with local and Nordic partners. The events can range from concerts to conferences, exhibitions, workshops and sometimes festivals. The project's activities can also include a large variety of different genres, arranging productions where Sami musicians and musicians from minorities within Interreg Aurora's project area are included and is also an important part of the project.

Norrbottensmusiken is part of the Culture Unit at the Department for Regional Development within Region Norrbotten and is tasked with being responsible for the county's professional music activities. We are an organization with a strong passion for music and we are proud to be responsible for providing Norrbotten County with high-quality performing arts with a varied repertoire for children, young people and adults.

In addition to the own ensembles Norrbotten Big Band, Norrbotten Chamber Orchestra and Piteå Chamber Opera, Norrbottensmusiken collaborates every year with a large number of freelance musicians and groups to be able to offer our organizers and partners as rich and varied a selection as possible. In 2024, we will also start work on a new permanent activity, Norrbotten World, which will strengthen and develop the music for national minorities and the indigenous Sami within a new artistic world music profile. Through our 450 concerts that we perform, we meet approx. 28,000 children and young people and approx. 38,000 adults every year.

We believe that music can be a strong catalyst for growth and development in society and especially in children and young people, which is why we focus large parts of our business on that particular target group. We perform 250 concerts each year aimed at children and young people and run successful educational nursery school activities such as Norrbottens Ungdomssymfoniker, Arctic Youth Jazz Orchestra and the vocal ensemble Arctic Light.

Information about the service
We offer a full-time temporary position starting 2024-08-01 through autumn 2025 with a chance for extension. The working hours are scheduled daytime, where evening and weekend work may occur when the business requires it. Access 2024-08-01, selection and interviews take place continuously and the position can be filled before the application deadline.

Region Norrbotten applies individual wage setting according to collective agreements.
